Anyone have experience with these in their truck? I want to do a replacement of the fog lights and headlights on my 2014 truck. How long do these normally last for an individual who works night shift 4 days a week? lol

I have used these in the past and love them, but want to see some others input on the setup and what bulbs would I need? I have the quad headlights btw.

I found them to be ho-hum at best in the quads before I changed to the '13 projectors.

If your goal is to enhance output, I'd recommend replacing the standard "long life" bulb with Philips 9011 HIR Standard Halogen Headlight Bulb. "Drop in" LED upgrades result in subpar patterning without besting this recommended bulb in output. The con / disadvantage to this upgrade is the expected bulb lifetime is reduced and will require replacement every 400 hours of operation or so. Bulb output is 2300 lumen.

If you'd like to seriously research headlight performance, I'd recommend Candlepower Forums (Automotive, Motorcycles Included.) as the advice on headlight upgrades here will be of lesser technical quality.

Well to further elaborate on my dilemma, I am not looking for more output necessarily as it would be a bonus, but definitely not a deal breaker. I am happy with the output of the stock bulbs, my BIGGEST issue is the fact that the stock halogens are "yellow" in color and makes me cringe. I actually want a true white bulb or even a bulb that has a very slight hint of blue in it but also matches or exceeds the stock halogen output. Again not necessary to be brighter just white. In the past I usually used Silverstars but I do a lot of night time driving and this is not the easiest headlight swap to do especially in a pinch with no tools. So even if I could find a matching set of bulbs for the head lights and fogs that were not so damn yellow, I would be happy. :favorites13:

I have these https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/products/automotive/Pages/silverstar-zxe.aspx and though they are a little better than stock I still like the HID's a lot better. The problem I was running into was when I try to install some HID's in my 2016 2500 ram my fog lights kept going off and on, so I got so tried on going back and forth with them I took them all out, I might try again and see if they do different but right now I'm done.

I have silverstars in all the front end lights I didn't want "brighter " just wanted a whiter light. They are a nice crisp white colour with very little yellow. I hate yellow lights. I was going to go hid but after reading of the headaches of hids in a 2016 and the constant ballast problems I've had in the past I decided to keep it simple.

No regrets with the silverstars though

I've had good luck with Silverstar in other vehicles; but not my Ram (haven't tried yet). Part source (a daughter company of Canadian Tire) does a one year over the counter trade for warranty.

With my old F-150 I got about 2-2.5 years out of a set and the wife's KIA got about 10-11 months. The guy I always dealt with, was always good about it. He would take both bulbs, the burnt out and good one and swap them with new pair. When one of that set when to ghost, I'll do the same thing, and he said the replacement was warrantied. I got 4 sets and this last set is going on about 2 years.

I upgraded the quad low beams on my truck to SilverStar ZxE's and found it to be much better than stock fire dubbing at night (I work 3rd shift too)

Exactly what I was gonna say and the way we have to replace bulbs on our Rams by disassembling half the front in, no way would I get Silverstar halogen bulbs.

That's why I am hesitating on even getting them. If they lasted a couple of year I would just go for it. Is there another bulb out there thats similar to a Silverstar color (white or hint of blue) and last longer than 100 hours of use??

I am with the others on the poor longevity of Silverstar bulbs. I replaced them twice on my wife's FJ that also uses them as DLR's and was lucky to get six months also. Went back to standard OEM lamps and no problems since.

I ran Silverstar ZXE's for over a year with no problem. But never really liked the output. I have switched to LED's in my low's and fogs since. Love the output they produce. The pic attached is the LED's, Low beam + Fogs

About a year typically is what I got on them. I just don't think they are worth it. They don't produce enough to make me happy.

Looks like I might have to go to an LED kit. Who makes good kits for these trucks?

Thank you guys for all the responses!
