Truck is a 96, 5.2 4x4 5 speed

I have to replace the timing gasket and for roughly the same price I can purchase a used 5.9 and have it installed vs just fixing the timing cover leak after labor. ($200 difference)

I have searched the swap but all of the swaps talk about the only issue being the converter(some say the flexplate) but cant find any information if the 5 speed in the 5.9 is the same as the 5 speed in the 5.2 and if all associated parts will work(I will upgrade the clutch while it is out, the clutch in it is fine now but just for preventative maintenance, unless of course it looks brand new(or wont hold the 5.9 torque)

So my question...

do they use the same transmission(and associated parts?). If so, am I safe to assume that the swap will be a bolt in affair. Thank you

1500s never got a 5.9 with a 5 speed, only 2500 and 3500 trucks and their 5 speed is different. Granted, the 2 engines share the same rear casting for the bellhousing
