Went to NH for some snowmobiling this weekend. Trip up was about 200 miles, through rain - ice - snow. Lots of traffic, had to take it easy. Snow and ice on the road, lost of people slipping and sliding for sure.

Kept an easy pace, got to my destination safe and sound. Truck does not look nearly as dirty as it is, the silver paint blends with the salt that covered it.

I can say for sure that this truck is very sure footed in snow with the Cooper AT3's that I put on in November.

Was cold Sunday morning when it was time to go home. Truck started right up at -22 F, no issues.

can I ask about tire pressure. Front/rear ? Did you loose pressure each morning ? did you refill or did it return when driving to what it was before ? thnx

20200117_155944.jpg 20200115_092507.jpg When it gets really cold the tire pressure drops and my low tire lights come on. Once it warms or I drive enough to warm the tires up the pressure comes back up and the warning turns off. No need to add air as you'll just end up overinflated once warm when it's that cold. I know it says x psi cold inflation pressure, but there's a difference between cold and freezing. If you have nitrogen instead of air the fluctuation is a lot less, but with the inconvenience and cost I wouldn't bother. Here's an example on my truck the low is parked cold and the other is once I drove for an hour and it warmed up a bit. No air added. Shortly after the other tire light turned off too. Almost a month ago and now that its more in the 0 range it's perfect and I still haven't added air since then.

I run mine (stock 20 inch rims, I forget the size exactly) at 42 - 44 psi. Didn't bother to check pressure, but got no warnings. My guess is if you run the pressure close to the low limit, it could turn on the light if it's really cold, but I would think it would go off as things warm up a bit as you drive.

Very nice, another Polaris/Mopar guy. Have a 800 triple Fuji swapped edge chassis but don’t get a lot of riding with the 2 young kids anymore.

How far up did you go? I went to high school in Pittsburg. Trails do not get much better than up there.

On Saturday, rode from Gorham to Millsfield. Had an Elk burger at the Log Haven, back to Gorham. Had a great day, heading back that way next weekend.

thnx so much for the good info. It got down to zero here last night and I lost about 3 psi per tire. I'm expecting -20F tomorrow night as I drive down the Alcan. It'll be my forst time to experience the square tites I've read about.

It can be tough to get out when the kids are young.

Riding an Arctic Cat nowadays, but still have a Polaris touring sled that my kids use sometimes. My screen name comes from the sled we had when we first started riding, borrowed from my in-laws.

Looked like this one.

I have felt that when it is really cold. Let the truck warm up for a few minutes, then take it easy for the first couple of miles. No amount of idling will warm up the tires and the lube everywhere but in the motor. Once things get moving, you should not have any trouble.

Great pic’s @PolarisCobra! One of the main reasons I installed 5K LED’s in my low beams and 6K in high. More light when I’m driving down the Daniel Webster Hwy at night between Carroll and Lincoln (all year). I have Michelin Defender tires and they have been excellent on wet pavement and snow covered roads. Also upgraded to an AGM battery for higher CCA on those bitter White Mountain mornings.

LEDs are getting to be on my short list for sure. I really like my truck, but the lighting is a weak point.

Driving through Franconia Notch can be both beautiful and terrifying.

Watched the groomer going down the hill at Cannon Friday night, it's a wonder that thing doesn't just fall off, looks like they are driving down a wall.

I went on an 1,100 through all the weather. When I got to ice there was a stretch of road about 5 miles that had 7 cars and trucks in the ditch along that stretch along with a crap load of emergency vehicles doing the best they could. Thankfully I do run dedicated winter tires, the winter tires along with the 4x4 and handling of the Ram - all was well.

I have to agree with the OP on the snow performance of these trucks. When I got the truck last year we had a very substantial snow fall and the truck handled it like a champ. I remember thinking to myself and think I also posted how impressed I was. Now I know the tires play a huge part of this but I had the same tires on my previous truck an F150 crewcab 6.5 box and it was horrible in the snow. So much so I ran with an extra 300 lbs in the bed and ran 4x4 to keep traction. The loss of weight by going to an aluminum bed must play a role. Now I have a crewcab short box with 3.92 and anti-spin differential that I drive without weight in the bed and it's great. It's really nice to drive a vehicle I'm super confident in.

Pulled into work tonight in the middle of another snowstorm.
I was surprised to see a State Trooper pull in behind me.
He said he'd been following me since I left my home town but couldn't catch me cause the road was too slippery for him to get above 45mph.(in an AWD Charger)
Basically told me to " slow the F*ck down!" and left.
Heck, I didn't even think it was slippery out and I was running 57 all the way in.

I agree. These trucks are phenomenal in the snow. Add snow tires to the mix and it's the best combo imo. One question I've come to hate is when people ask "how are the roads?". It's such a relative question. To me they are always fine. I drive what the conditions will allow. I have winter tires and 4wd and can drive and have common sense. Every storm is different so you just have to feel it out. Find that point where you push in corners and slow a bit. Speed back up in straights.

As far as lights go....it's a very important piece. especially you guys going up north. I've come very very close to putting a 1000lb moose through my windshield at night. Last second I could see her eyes. My first 2 rams were express. Lights were horrible. Current truck is a sport. These lights are leaps and bounds better. The high beam coverage is fantastic. Would I like LEDs? Sure. But not spending on that right now. For those with the quads, look at beamtech LED bulbs. Plug and play. They are great and only $40. There are some great options for bulbs under $150

I'm a 3rd shifter and this is the first truck ( or any 4x4 really) I've owned that I haven't mounted an LED lightbar to so I could see the road at night in bad weather.
These LED headlights are awesome...
