This summer job gave me a Tundra SR5 to drive in order to keep the miles and wear & tear off my truck.

I had to run an empty 18ft flatbed trailer from Oklahoma to North Dakota to start working. This thing gets absolutely atrocious mpg when it's not even working hard. It's gonna be comical once I start loading it with old appliances that need to be disposed of...

My truck definitely has more power and gets better MPG towing a similar trailer loaded with 3 Can-Am atv's that are heavy as ****. On the plus side it has comfortable seats. The only thing that I wish my truck had is this awesome feature where the whole back window rolls down.

I've always heard the toys get bad mpg but are otherwise decent trucks. What did you expect? The toys have the power to tow the space shuttle so they can't get good mpg can they? Lol hahahaha....

I just couldn't deal with seeing that Japanese T staring back at me on the steering wheel Lol. I just don't care for Japanese trucks. Just my .02.

I took my 33 foot Ford E-450 based motor home on a road trip and the best was 7.5 mpg and the worst was 5.5 mpg.

Good Lord. How does that engine suck so much gas. Pretty bad when it makes a 6.4 HD owner raise their eyebrow at gas mileage.

Dodge likes to wow the crowds when they talk about how a Hellcat can burn a full tank of fuel at WOT in a few mins. Well watch out Dodge, the Tundra also exists… lol

Kinda off topic, but I have a Yamaha FX SVHO Waverunner and that baby burns 21 gallons per hour at WOT... The tank is 18 gallons so it can limit your ride if you're a throttle jockey that's for sure.

Compared to the ram it tows pretty decent just not as well like I've already said.

It's that gas mileage and it does suck in the hills.

I towed my 24' Duckworth Magnum up the AlCan highway from Salem, Oregon to Wasilla, Alaska back when I had my 2000 Dodge 1500 5.9 gasser and averaged 6.3mpg the whole way up. Not only the chitty mileage, but up some of those passes I was down into 2nd gear just to keep my forward motion. I think I spent more time pumping gas into that truck than driving it.... Crazy how the 6.4 I'm running now has twice the HP, much larger tow capacity and gets better mileage.

2500 miles / 6.3 mpg = 396.8 gallons gas

If its not windy I get frustrated if my average mpg dips below 14.0 when towing a boxy TT. Light footing it unloaded on the hwy she is not hard to average 28 for a tank full. Often I'll run 80 mph and still average 23. I grew up on gasser pick ups and still love them but can't see going back unless I lived way north with a really short commute. Even with the Tundra & HD 6.4 being great trucks with the hideous economy especially when worked I wonder how long they will be able to retain decent sales. Especially with our out of control government continually raising our over taxed fuel taxes & over burdening regulation of the industry continually driving up the cost of fuel.

The 6.4 can drink.

I'm just surprised the Toyota 5.7 is worse on mileage than the Hemi 5.7

Also has about the same valve train noise as us
