I just noticed I have got an exhaust tick. I figure if I am replacing a manifold, I might as well put headers on. I was looking at the jba long tube headed and the jba y-pipe. I already have a 14" magnaflow and kind of like the way it sounds. I don't want it to be that much louder. I want the best performance but considering short tubes to keep the cats and the noise down.

If I go with long tube headers is it going to make it way louder by getting rid of the cats?
If I went with long tubes and a 22" muffler instead of the 14" that I have now, would it kind of even out?
For the jba headers, is the ceramic coating worth the extra cost over the stainless?

Thanks for the help.

The ceramics is over the stainless . It helps keep the heat in and helps a little more with the tick. Without cats, it's gonna growl a little louder for sure.

I felt ARH long tubes (with cats and ceramic coating) with a 14" Maggie is just a touch quieter than the stock manifolds (with cats) and a muffler delete.
Not sure if that helps...

Cool. I have heard a few reports of louder lifter tick after header install. I will go with the ceramic coating just to possibly quiet that down.

The coating isn't gonna help the ticking. It might just change the tone of it, and I doubt you could tell the difference. Lol
The tick is going to get louder just because of the thinner material compared to a manifold. It's deceiving cus most people think they have a leak after install, and it is hard to tell the difference sometimes.
Long tubes are always worth it! Good luck, and put some Stage8 locking fasteners on them and don't look back!

Thanks fellas. I got some jba ceramic coated long tubes and their y-pipe on the way. I will worry about the noise and maybe consider another muffler after I get the headers in.

Got the headers last night. Hopefully they will be going in this weekend. Does anyone have any experience with the gaskets they come with? Should I pick up a pair of oe gasket?

Ive found with gaskets. (Depends on the company) are hit or miss. The last exhaust build i did on my old 2nd gen i ended up machining my own copper gaskets since i couldnt find any for the 318. I wonder if they make them for the new hemis.

Are you sure your exhaust tick is the manifolds and not broken bolts? I thought mine was manifolds ended up being the manifold bolts on cylinders 8 and 7 are weak from dodge. And under warranty

The broken bolts are the cause of the leak. I've got two of them. But the cause of the broken bolts is a warped manifold. They warp so much that they snap the bolts off over time.

Got the headers and vararam installed last Sunday. Header install went smooth. Pretty pleased with the performance. Got a Greene Racing tune to take care of the CEL. This thing is loud though. I will be ordering a flow master 22" muffler to hopefully quiet it down.
