Hey everyone. I'm new to the Ram world and this forum. I just purchased a brand new dodge ram 1500 express exactly a week ago. Love the truck so far. Probably the nicest truck I've ever owned. I'm just having a couple of minor issues. The truck pulls to the left a lot. I think I need a new wheel alignment. I tried the old "find a nice paved straight road and take your hands off the wheel" test but she pulls almost immediately into the left lane. I am going crazy. A brand new truck shouldnt need a wheel alignment and I haven't hit anything with it. I also noticed small bubbles of clear coat on the bottom corners of each of my doors. Should I be worried about this or is it just a factory defect? I dont know much about paint so when I saw it-I thought something was wrong and the paint was peeling off. I included a picture of one of the spots of my truck and a pic of a Red Ram i found online that looks just like one of the spots on my doors. Any advice or help would be appreciated

i got an alignment at 300 miles for a pull. all suspensions settle differently. dont be scared to use a waranty that came with your HUDGE investment.

as for the paint it depends on the bodyshop you dealership uses i guess. not much a mechanic can do about that.

Good, I thought I was going crazy. It pulls to the left too when I drive but I thought maybe I was just being OCD. I get worried that the dealer will argue that I did something and they wont cover the alignment under warranty. I asked my local body shop guy about the clear coat. He said they can sand them down and touch them up for cosmetic reasons but its nothing to worry about. I have a decent scratch on my door that the dealer tried to buff out to no avail so I might just have them fix it.

If an alignment doesn't do the trick, then cross rotate the front tires--you may be experiencing "tire pull". I've had it happen. Congrats on the new truck!

What is tire pull? Not being a smartass, I never heard of it. Did you have it done when yours was still new? I thought it was just me being dumb, but then I did the alignment tests today and now I notice it pulling when I drive. I just came from a 2015 gmc canyon and that was the WORST truck I ever owned. Nothing but problems since I owned it. From recalls to bad paint to leaking windows and seals...so now I'm traumatized and expect something bad to happen to the Ram.

Is that bubbled paint or a plastic covering? Mine had some kind of a plastic or whatever protector on the bottom of the rear panels on the corner.

I also had to take mine in at around 700 miles for an alignment and the wheel was offset a little. I also thought that a new truck shouldn't be doing that, but it wasnt a big deal and I DO suffer from OCD so it would drive me crazy. The paint should be flawless and you should def. take it back sooner rather than later. I read alot of stuff online and there are so many complaints with new trucks from ALL brands that it boggles my mind.

Nah, I thought of the same thing. When I went to the body shop-The first thing the tech asked me was if it was that rough looking paint on the rocker panels like on other trucks to prevent chips. He said its just a case of clear coat overspray. He said he sees it all the time especially on door edges...said its nothing to worry about and they can touch it up if its bothering me. I have a nice 4 inch scratch on my door that the dealer tried to buff out but to no avail so I might just have them try to fix that as well.

Did they cover your alignment under warranty? Thats the only thing I'm worried about. The good thing is that all of this is fixable. Its just a pain in the ass...I wasn't expecting a trip back to the dealer for complaints so soon lol. I went through hell with that Canyon I had. I was at the dealer every weekend I had off or it was in the shop more than I drove it so my OCD messes with me and makes me think I have another junk truck

I'm surprised no here has told you yet that an alignment is covered under a 12 month/12,000 warranty. Obviously, that doesn't mean you can take in for 10 alignments with that time frame. I think they will do only one.

You paid a lot of money for that truck. Take it back and make them fix every little thing that bothers you!

I just get worried they'll try to pull a fast one and say well you must have hit something since you drove it for a week. the picture is when I'm driving to keep the truck straight. If i try to make the wheel look straight, it veers immediately to the left.

Mine had a alignment , right off the bat. It pulled to the left bad and still does pull a little. My new one before this one had to get a alignment too and it was a Chevy.

If the dealership does do that, then its a ******* dealership and i would make a call to Chrysler Customer Service. My dealership does everything, obviously within reason, to make me happy.

Yes, it was covered under warranty and its fine now. the odds of having two junk trucks back to back are slim, but if its just these issues with the ram then just have them fixed and all will be good again. I hear you in regards to the GMC. I test drove a 1500 sierra b4 i bought my ram and that damn truck was shaking ad vibrating all over the place.

The dealership I bought my Ram from seems pretty decent. I just have a bad taste in my mouth from GM. They didn't want to fix anything on that truck. Worse vehicle I ever owned and you'd think their customer service would be top notch since the government had to bail them out, but they treat customers like dirt...at least at the dealership I was going to. Thats why I'm a little traumatized and expect everything to go wrong now with the Ram. I know every truck is different. I love this truck.

Another thing I don't like right now is that my old truck( Canyon) is for sale at the dealership where I bought my dodge. They were supposed to pay off my loan to Ally for the canyon but I just got an e-mail saying my m onthly payment for the canyon is due on the 1st. Should I be worried? The transaction was a week ago so does this normally take a little bit for them to pay off?

Just got ahold of them. They said they received the a check for a payoff but it takes 3-5 days to clear. Thank god. I had a mini heart attack.
