- Electric pickups hauling trailers create a new charging station problem as many locations don’t have pull-through stations. Without the ability to charge without unhitching a trailer, adoption could suffer for those looking to use the towing capabilities of the upcoming EVs.
By the way, Electric Vehicles do not have a Transmission, so you can not shift them into Neutral.
That would mean that you can't Flat Tow them, in fact, you can't even pull them with a Wheel Tow Dolly.
When the wheels are rotating, it is Generating Electricity & that electricity has no where to go, according to Tow companies, etc.
Why can't an EV be towed?
Using a hook and chain truck, dolly, or wheel lift tow truck leaves two of the EV's wheels spinning. When an EV's wheels spin, they continuously generate power to the battery. If that power is not being used it can damage the battery and motor.
