I’m not crazy about the e-torque but mine hasn’t generated any problems. The only thing I really, really wish they had incorporated was a delay on shutting off for 3 or 4 seconds. It’s really stupid to roll up to a stop sign in the middle of nowhere, come to a complete stop and immediately leave, but first the engine must stop and then restart - almost encourages a slow roll through stop signs. Or trying to creep into the garage and up to the wheel stop and it keeps shutting off and starting. I believe someone wrote on here that they (whoever they are) determined it saved fuel at stop lights after 7 seconds. So how about a 5 second delay??

One bright side - everyone seems to pretty much agree that excessive idling is not good for these engines due to the cam/lifter design so I just let it do its thing and live with it if it might help engine longevity in stop and go traffic. The issue with the AC going warm at traffic lights is really not a big deal. If it starts getting a little warm, just let up on the pressure on the brake pedal a little and it fires right back up and stays running.
If you don't press the brake pedal so hard it won't stop/start. At least that's how it works in my Gladiator. Barely enough brake pedal pressure to come to a stop, but not enough to stop the engine. Took me a little to get used to it, but now I don't have to turn of the start/stop.

Yes, I recognized that but it’s kind of unreliable. I’ve even had mine shut off frequently while still moving, while I was rolling slowly to a complete stop with mild brake pressure.

Right now, the Best thing that the buyers that will be purchasing a Ram 1500 for 2026 can do.
Is to write letters or e-mail every one of your favorite Automotive Magazines, you can tell them your concerns about e-torque, mds, etc.

You will not convince Stellantis to change their plans, until 2027, when they can't sell the 2026 Rams.

But you definitely can put a Bug in the ears of the Test Drivers that the Automotive Magazines use to evaluate the many vehicles that will be coming out in a couple of months.

They might be gone by then. They're in an existential crisis right now. Thanks to FCA and Stellantis milking their Chrysler Cow for years and years without investment. Oh, well! Same thing happened to my company.

I don't even get any auto rags anymore.

the 2026 Rams will not be on the dealership lots until late September or October.

The Test Rams are currently under construction
Those Rams will not have a V.I.N. they will be destroyed after the Auto Mags Testers have driven them.

anyone had to use the Stellantis Service yet ?

  • Stellantis has a mobile service program pilot underway in the Southeast
  • The automaker ideally will launch the program on a larger scale in 2025
  • Jeep SVP Mike Koval Jr. said Ford and others have been benchmarked

Sergio and Carlos found lots of ways to go out of business.

Now there's another Italian that's gonna fix what's left - Antonio Filosa. Maybe the 0500 will get flames painted on the sides.

Yeah I know he was at Jeep. But I'm telling you guys I lived this movie and their arrogance and incorrect decisions.

I don't really like the new emblem. Eitherway, I've decided to keep my '23 1500. It has 15K miles on it so far. I'm not worried about the eTorque System. I already paid the truck off. Might be my last truck given the prices these days. I bought a used daily commuter Toyota, $12K cash, 88K miles, great condition, insane reliability.

I'm glad I have one without eTorque and will drive it until it falls apart.
If I were to get another it won't be a new one - That much I can say with things the way the are ATM.

That Service, where the Mechanics will come to your door, will be an issue in some towns.

If they can't actually fix the vehicle, because parts are not available, the City that you live in may not let a Disabled Vehicle remain on your property.
My Grand Father had a 1939 Buick on His Farm.
Somehow the Town or County knew the Buick was behind one of the Grain Storage Shed.
He received a couple of notices about it.
We moved it further away from the Main House, in fact it was behind the Large Barn, where there was a large Pole Barn.

He still got notices, so they must have used a small plane to see where it was stashed.

He called one of my Uncles who had a Wrecking Yard, so it was taken away.

Do you know if they (EPA & OEM) allow owners to shut off the festure?
I didn’t see that anyone answered this question (I missed it if so). Every vehicle I’ve driven with start/stop had a button to disable it. But you have to press the button every time you start the engine because it defaults to enable start/stop. There are devices you can buy which allow you to disable it and the system remembers that.

For both of the etorque 1500’s I’ve owned I bought a device called Autostop Eliminator. Costs $100. For my Audi’s which had start/stop I bought a device from Amazon that cost about $15.

My guess is that most of those towns are in California :p It's usually HOA rules that dictate whether or not you can have a project car sitting in the driveway.

That 1939 Buick that my Grand Father owned was in Connecticut

But you are correct, California uses Helicopters for looking for fields of Marijuana that are not considered Legal Crops, those same Helicopters are looking for unregistered vehicles.

Here in California, you can

File for Planned Non-Operation $27 annually

So California allows you to pay the state to let you keep a non-operational vehicle (project car) on your own property? My state is no better than California on a lot of stuff, but at least I can park a parts car or project car on my property.

Desperate move but the real question is will this turn around Ram. The eco boost is taking over the 5.0-liter V8 eventhough they still sell the 5.0, Chevy as well has engine options, but the real question is bringing back the hemi gonna help? I sure hope these bafoons fix the oiling issue, but for the cam/lifter issue the hemi imo would be the most popular engine choice out there. Which is why you don't run these things into the ground, they failed to fix this for 15 years or better. They ran the hemi name into the ground, the Mopar name into the ground and ram into the ground if sales number prove anything.

2020 - 563k, 2022- 468k, 2023-444k, 2024- 373k, worst news this year 1st quarter ram is down even further then last year down 11% MORE from the tragic last year. I wouldn't doubt this year ram falls below GM for crying out loud. Maybe these dummies ought to start hiring truck guys instead of poofy girls and euro donks if they actually wanna turn the table. Let's face it, we all are driving Pontiacs.

That eco-boost may be overtaking the 5.0 Coyote, but I can tell you that is because a V8 F150 is almost impossible to find, they just don't want to make those V8's..and the ones that GM & Ford are turning out are junk. Cam phasers, slipping 10 SPD transmissions and cylinder deactivation valve train issues...Not that many years ago those small block V8's couldn't be beat for value...now they are boat anchors
