I got a quick question, if i am driving and i get a blow out... where should i put the spare tire. The spare tire is a 265/70/17 and the tires i have now are 295/70/17. The last two trucks i had, had LSD and locker, and was told not to put a smaller tire on that axle. I do not have a LSD on my truck but i have that traction control thing. If a rear tire blows. should i take the good front tire and move it back and put the spare in front ext.?

No need to move tires. Traction control is 'electronic' via the braking system.

Nope. Not enough difference in speed between the 2 to activate the TC.

I have factory 20" tires BUT a 17" tire for a spare, which looks like a donut lol

someone said before the size is like 2% difference but of course that's not accounting for wear. it looked like a full size would fit so i'm planning to just replace it along with the others when i'm due for a change

The 17 is not a low profile tire like the 20 is, so there right at the same size.

I can see where folks in Canada may want a 'real' tire for a spare,,, Depends on location.
I always keep my OEM spare properly inflated,,, however,,,, I carry a tire plug kit and small compressor. The spare on my '00 never saw the ground, Same with the 09,,, Haven't used a 'spare' in,,,, decades,,,

Must be nice. I've had 2 in the 3 years I've had mine.

I think what he means is he fixes the flats on the truck rather than swap to the spare. I had a random puncture in my wife's 4Runner and poured water on the dang thing for 15 minutes while rotating, could not find the issue. Had to take it off and the hole was so big a plug would not seal it. The 3rd shop I went to finally put a big patch on the inside to fix it. This is rare and typically a plug kit will fix it easily and I also keep a small compressor in my truck. I have a decent sized tote in the bed strapped down with tools, emergency supplies and fluids etc. Truck is new but **** happens.

As mentioned above, the overall tire diameter is prob close or the same, may have a different rim size but over all height is the same... I never use my spare due to AAA..

Just get the tire size and compare the height from the manufactured to what is on your 20" wheel
