Found a great deal on Memphis Car Audio M speakers. Components and specs look good but I have been out of audio biz for awhile and have never heard of this brand. Last Pair I bought were 399.00 for pair of component MB Quart references back in late 90s. Anyone care to share their experience with Memphis Audio? Or know how they compare to MB Quarts or JLs? Looking to pull the trigger soon.

You my friend had an awesome set of components that would hang very well with today's very best! The MBQ Reference line from the early-late 90's was a beautiful sounding line. Very much sought after today...IF you can find any.
Anyways...
Memphis is good. Wouldn't be my first choice, but many people like them. I have heard Memphis components (no clue on which line..) they're nice, they get loud.
They sound nothing like your old MBQ's though...
JL Audio makes great amps, speakers, and subs...consistently. They gear gets better and better the higher you go up in their line up....across the board.
But they have their own sound too...
What I think sounds good, you may not...best to demo them in person if at all possible

I hear ya. None of my premium audio from factory experience has ever compared to those MBQs even on my wifes Audi S7. Ill try the JLs. I only used their subs in the past. Thanks.

Make sure you are buying from an authorized Memphis dealer as they will not warranty anything that wasn't sold by one of their dealers.

the first question is what is your budget? this will help you in the direction needed to achieve the sound you want. i have been in the car audio business for 13+ years. all you see on most forums is Jl this, JL that. dont get me wrong JL is good, but if you want good sound and are willing to spend to get it there is MUCH better out there. JL has their higher end, but it still really doesnt compare to hertz or focal for all around sound.

^^^^ then you look at small named companies (boutique) shops like Illsion that have been known to give the bigger name brands a run for their money. Honestly I doesn't mater what you are putting in if you don't take time and properly treat the doors so you get the most out of your money. I can make a $100 set sound 10x than a $1000 set if they are installed poorly.
