My 2016 Ram started to have a squeak when the driver's door opens or closes. I tried WD40 on the hinge and it helps for a while. I oiled the hinge and the same happens. What can I do to have the squeak remedied? Should I try heavy gunky grease?

An update on the squeaky door:
I read another thread about the door squeak and how to get it gone. I bought rubber washer ¼ x ½ x 1/16 and installed it on the door hinge. Had to push the hinge down a bit to expose the anchor rod. The washer went on and the squeak disappeared....at least for now. I'll know for sure in a couple or three weeks. But for now, the RAM front doors are quiet as a church mouse. LOL

Vaseline ... works well and lasts longer that those you mentioned ... I carry a jar in my truck if a 'just in case' arises ... I even use it for squeaking door hinges around the house ...

I was researching door squeak remedies and came across this thread and a few others. I have a 2017 Ram 1500 with 78,000 miles. So what I ended up doing was going with rubber orings in that location. The ones I ordered fit perfectly and were like $5 for 10 or so orings. No squeaks and have plenty more if they eventually come off, break or start squeaking. Here's a link to the ones I got.

I just used heavy-duty grease.

According to one of my college professors (retired USAF General), WD-40 was developed to remove moisture from components used in the Atlas missile program.

There’s always been a degree of B.S. associated with WD40. Even the company’s own advertising has errors. (see the attached….where Hurricane Carla is said to have hit Florida…when in fact…it hit Texas. Hell, I was There!” As a young Boy Scout we finished Hiking merit badge with a 50 mile hike from Houston to Galveston and witnessed grass hanging on the top strand of barbed wire fences from flooding 30 miles from the coast!)

Anyway, Lest anyone think I’m picking on WD40…. I Wash My Classic Airplane with it instead of soap. (It ain’t no rocket-ship tho’) :jester:

My door was squeaking about 2 years ago. I used Redline CV-2 grease.

The problem hasn't returned since.

I bought the tub of Redline about 10 years ago when I replaced the spindle bearings in my lathe and mill. Packed them with it and they have been good since.

Abec7 NSK angular contact bearings for the mill and Timken P5 tapered rollers for the lathe.

That tub is still about 95% full. I even use it on the linear bearings for my 3d printers.

It's as good as Kluber, but at a fraction of the price.
