It essentially is the same thing. Just a rebuildable version.

So the one on my truck can not be repaired?

I believe this is the cause of the play in the steering and the popping I hear when going turning the wheel.

From what I have seen in the past down by the steering box is the coupler that bolts to the shaft and the steering box. So that it is repairable and swappable of the rubber spacer. Yours looks like it is a solid shaft with a universal. Nos sometimes its a twin universal. You can get those joints and replace them but I'm not seeing where yours is bad. A little grungy but other than that if there isn't any play in it I'd say its good.

Yep she has some play in it. That's what got me to searching for a new coupler. But know one seems to have them. The shaft will extend and retract a little bit. So it's not a solid shaft. Right?

One more again RF comes through. After being told it doesn't look bad I decided to go "play" with it. Loosened the pinch bolt which didn't take much effort. Inspected the area, nothing bad. Tighten it up and still some play. It's pretty tight for being on my back working. Break out the trusty torque wrench and what do ya know I was nowhere close to the 35 lbs I needed.
And after crick, crick it's tight again. Tony(Bigtman07) that's twice THANK YOU!!!
When you make it back here beer is on me.
