Alright guys, I need some help here, I've always been a diesel fan but I now own my 1st diesel which is a 2017 ram 2500. It's all stock and I definitely want to put a programmer on it and egr delete with an exhaust. All I want out of this truck which is my daily driver is to tow my 9500lb camper...I want to get some hp and torque as well as fuel economy back that the government emissions has takin away from the truck. I dont care to see how much hp I can get or drag race the truck or anything like that. I just want that egr off and that blue def out of there haha I hate driving it knowing I could be getting better fuel economy and some extra power to help me out with my tow and driving around town. Any suggestions on what programmer to get. I dont need the top of the line bc I dont plan to build the truck. I just need some pointers and suggestions!!! Yall are the pros!!! Thank all of you!!!

You are not going to gain any noticeable mpg buy deleting a 2017. And deleting is getting more and more difficult with the EPA crack downs so good luck. I recommend finding a reputable tuner (if you still can) and not a fly by night guy so when it starts acting up and you need support someone will answer the phone or email and help you.
By the way, if you can get passed all the paranoia people spread about "OMG you have to delete or the truck will self destruct" you will find a stock trucks runs just fine.

If you feel you have to do it, might want to try some of the facebook cummins pages, not a ton of "deleting" going on here but the FB groups are full of it so maybe they can be more help (that's all they talk about).

The stock truck definitely does run fine. And yes very aware of it being illegal when it comes to emissions deletes...95% of diesels on the road or deleted and programmed and the law will just pass you by. At least in my state. But talking about deleting the egr...from what I've seen it friends cummins and read many threads it seems reasonable to delete the egr bc of all the soot build up...idk what to do...or if I will do anything with the truck...I would like to have an exhaust but I dont believe I could do that without a programmer right?

No you can't do anything with the exhaust without deleting it all. I wasn't pointing out that it was illegal, that's obvious. My point was all the big well known tuners have been shut down by the EPA so it's getting tougher to find a tuner and also even straight exhuasts for the truck. EPA is even shutting them down.

Here's what I did to my 2017 2500 following numerous regen failures, misfire codes (yup..on a diesel! that's how messed up my DEF system was right out of the box) and being left stranded 14 miles North of NoWhere several times:

Delete & Tune mods

Edge CTS-2 Insight monitor with Cummins unlock

13 – 17 EFI Live Dodge CSP4 tune package by PPEI / Kory Willis

13 – 17 EFI Live Dodge transmission tuning

Cummins tuning switch CSP4

EGR valve and cooler removal with block off plate

Throttle valve delete

Edge expandable EGT probe kit

Pillar pod mount for Edge CTS2

Transmission mods

BD Diesel 68RFE valve body plate kit

Mag Hytec deep transmission pan

ATS 68RFE transmission case support brace

Exhaust Upgrade

FloPro 4“ cat & DPF cannister delete pipe

4” – 6” black exhaust tip with rolled edge

Corsa 8004002 4” muffler – placed just downstream of down pipe

I don't advocate removing emissions controls but the dealers could do nothing but reset the PCM and send me on my way. My inquiries to FCA customer service were not answered. Needing a reliable truck for work, and not being able to secure a solution to the issues, left me no choice.

It is getting harder and harder to find shops that will do this work anymore (Federal EPA pressure on the individual states to uphold the law, State EPA agencies filing suit against the shops, etc...) but there is still hope.

If you DEF system is still working consider a tune without the rest of the delete mods. I'd also suggest that you consider adding some oil capacity to the transmission, installing the valve body plate kit and bracing the trans case.

Good luck.

If the epa has all the aftermarket sales shut down why am I able to purchase all of this stuff online? I found the edge CTS-2 with cummins unlock.

They have not shut down "every" tuner but they sure have shut down some of the top ones. What are you buying with that edge CTS? Canned tunes with no support. When it starts acting up and throwing codes who are you going to call? When you are not happy with the tunes who are you going to call?

Good luck with that. I advise you to do some research on what you are getting into before you create a money pit.

I'm not doing anything with research. Idc what anyone says....the emissions system on these trucks are systems waiting to fail with so much more added maintenance for no damn reason!!! It's a huge filtration system that you have to clean and maintain and replace. The truck needs to run like it did before 2013 not with all this government crap on it! I get where your coming from though! I do! I will take all in consideration!

Jeffery, just curious if you got this done and if so what you did. I'm thinking full delete on my '14. Not sure if I should also remove the def tank and system. Thanks for any info anyone can provide. I'll be going with Raceme ultra using the 30hp tune. Not interested in racing just want a dependable truck.

I guess I’m late to the conversation but I agree about the whole emissions garbage, I work underground in the coal mines where we run Duetz diesels with unbelievable emissions control from our state run agency, but anyhow I just bought a 2014 6.7 from a ram dealer and was told the truck was deleted, it is kinda, it has the egr valve but it doesn’t work, it doesn’t have any plates or covers anywhere, the only thing I found is a 2 prong plug that runs in the cab through the steering wheel rubber, they cut a hole and it just lays under my floor mat, there is no programmer or anything to let me change anything, I have my Diablosport Trinity T2 plugged in JUST AS A MONITOR, they do not have any tunes for it yet but the tech manager said they are working on it, but everything is still in place and intact but just doesn’t function, I want to take it off, more than likely it is plugged up anyhow from not working, but before I do I need to make sure that I have something that I can make sure I’m going to run, basically I need to have a Race Me Ultra or an Edge Attitude or EZ link or something that I can turn everything off when it gets unplugged, I don’t know what they did so far to allow it to run without it functioning and if in fact it has been power tuned or flashed or something like the Stealth mod, I don’t know much about them, anybody have any suggestions, thanks for listening...

I always have wondered if you sandwich a blocking plate under the valve if it would throw codes for something like "air"flow or would it build up temps or some other monitored parameter. Im sure if it was this easy, there would be tons doing it
