I was looking to get a rear sway bar for the rear of my 1500 but I don't want to pay 200 bucks for a brand new aftermarket one. I was wondering if one off a 2500 would fit and if it makes a big enough difference in handling to put one on. Has anybody tried this.

Sway-bars will always make a difference. It may be more noticeable with a load, but IMO they're worth it. I put one on the back of my F-150 and it made a HUGE difference when loaded. On my G8 going from stock to HUGE was an AMAZING difference. It handles like it's on rails.

Can't answer the first part of your question though. 200 bucks isn't bad for a bar though.
