Strange noise, wondering if anyone has heard of this?

I have a new noise that I have heard a few times. Seems to be when backing up. It's good for about 10 feet then it sounds like a low pitched humming that gets louder as I move. After about 15 feet (of making the noise-20 feet total) the noise level peaks and then disappears. I work in the car business and haven't heard anything like it before. I can't really feel it in the floor or the steering wheel.

Just putting feelers out there...

brakes? Bearings? Get a video of the sound and post it up then everyone will be able to hear it.

It hasn't done it in a couple of days now. I have been getting some strange feedback from my steering wheel. I wonder if the driver's side wheel bearing is on its way out. I will keep trying to get a video of it.

Some strange noises are always hard to track down. If it only does it in reverse then you can suspect the transmission. Now my Nissan makes a humming noise when backing up also, but it has always made that noise.

Heard it going forward over x-mas. Only once for about 10 feet. I will keep everyone updated on this for future reference.
