Truck is a 2013 1500 5.7 65RFE.

Figured I'd put this out here in case anyone has any ideas. I have a rattle/pump sounding noise at around 2200 RPM while under load. I've heard it in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gears and only while under load. It's only at that specific RPM.

Heres what doesn't make the noise:

-P or N reved to 2200
-Power braking it in D or R.
-Using a scantool it doesnt seem matter what line pressure is or TCC lockup stste
-If i floor it and it goes above 2200 RPM
-If it's under load UNDER 2200 RPM
-If I hold speed in any gear to equal 2200 RPM and it's not under load like on a flat road
-It is nor speed dependant, only 2200 RPM engine speed under load

I first thought something pulley driven but I pulled the belt off and everything is smooth and quiet. Also everything pulley driven but the AC compressor is newer Mopar parts

The truck drives and shifts perfectly and has 0 codes stored. I had my wife listen from the passengers seat and she said it sounds like it's coming from the front passengers side. I switched so she was driving and I was in the passengers seat and I can confirm that's where it sounds like it's coming from.

Normally something like this I would turn the volume up and ignore it but it almost sounds like a noisy power steering pump at that RPM. Since I have electric power steering the only fluid pump is on the transmission.

AND we're towing the camper to Virginia in April so I need to know if anything is about to $h it the bed. I've been talking to back and forth with @Burla @Brandon-w about this and we're stumped.

Here's a video of it, at about the 4ish second mark you can hear it.

Thanks in advance!

With the belt off, give the water pump pulley a push/pull. When my water pump bearing started to go, I had a sound something like that for awhile before it got bad enough to start dripping.

With the belt on and under tension, I couldn't tell but when I took the belt off, the pulley and clutch fan had just enough wiggle that it was obviously on it's way out. I replaced it pretty much immediately.

Chances are, it has nothing to do with your water pump, but there's no harm in crossing it off your list of possibilities.

Thanks, yeah I checked that when I had the belt off, the water pump bearings are tight and quiet.

It only has about 30k on a Mopar water pump

Well that's a resonant vibration, so look for loose items. Exhaust heat shield?
That was my thought too, but there's only a small shield next to the cat and the exhaust manifold shield, both seemed pretty tight when I crawled under there...

Well, that's it! Henceforth, you sit on the driver's side in the back seat, behind the Mrs.! Not only is the noise delegated to the 4th dimension/ parallel universe, you can easily guide the wife's "driving technique"! ;) See ya in the dog house!

Update, had a local mechanic look at it just because I need to know if it's safe to tow the camper in 2 months. He said the pump sounds normal and the noise is from a heat shield vibrating, most likely the exhaust manifold heat shield. Since I have no broken manifold bolts yet I'm not messing with that heat shield.

Anyways so I'll just ignore it for now, much rather find out its nothing than something big that I need to get fixed asap.

Thanks everyone!

It's the hemi, thanks to it's issues we are all super sensitive for anything. Address any squeak or your truck might implode, quite different from rattle bucket truck of yesterday.

However, why the heat shield, looks like some exhaust bolts in your future. Have you ever done them yet?

Oh yes, I ran JBA shorties for a couple years before they started to leak and then I said F it and just bought new Mopar manifolds with new Mopar hardware/gaskets. O issues so far and I had checked all 4 end bolts on that side before bringing it to him. Theres also a couple of heat shields near the passenger's side cat that could be loose...

That's a relief, I bet!

I bit the bullet in Jan. and re-planed the exhaust manifolds on my 6.4. It was a pain, but worth it. I'm still in shock how quiet it is - it doesn't even sound 'right' after all those years leaking and rattling.
