I don't know if this is protocol.... But

Quick introduction and a question :):)

Just about to move to Texas from England and had to get my priorities right, so, before I even rented a house had to track down " my kinda spec" Ram1500 hemi.
So I'm now the happy owner of a very optioned up 09 regular cab SLT ( original ticket was >36K )
No spring chicken with 70K on the clock but impeccable service history and brand new michelins all round ..... Runs like a dream.
Needless to say I'm one happy, soon to be Texan :roflsquared::roflsquared:

I'm going to let the wife drive around weekdays while I flit between renters and a large motorcycle ( yup I'm one of those guys) and in the next 18 months get her a new truck , relegating this one to a weekend toy..... Then the fun will begin with aftermarket parts .

So after that long intro - Hi and here's the question

The shocks are a little tired ... Especially rebound damping - and I'm looking for some options for a slightly smoother ride .
Appreciate any input on bilstein or Monroe vs Kayaba ......which in my experience can be a little " ordinary" - trying to be diplomatic there.

Welcome. Sounds like you got yourself a nice Ram truck. I had Bilstein 4600's installed on my truck because I wanted to keep the stock ride height. I know others on the forum here have gone with the 5100's for lifted trucks.

Ahhh Englishman in Texasland! Culture change for sure! :D

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the state I call home! I hope you'll like it in both places.

Personally, I've had good luck with Monroe shocks on three trucks. If you've got the cash, Bilstein is also a very good shock, but personally I recommend them more for the lifted or lowered guys more than stock ride height.

Welcome to the US and Texas. Remember that the steering wheel is on the left side of the truck :naughty:

I have tried both Bilstein and Rancho on trucks in the past, all of the trucks were stock ride height. The Bilstein shocks were definitely better with the poor quality roads we have here in Houston. YMMV

Welcome to the Ramily, and the States. At 70K any shock replacement type will improve your ride dampening. That Hemi should have lots of life on her. :favorites13:
