hey new to forum, but got a question I have not bought this truck yet. But it is a 04 quad cab 1500 hemi 4x4 with 190,000. but to the point now with that many miles was going to do a rebuild, but I can't stand stock vehicles so want to hop it up a bit but still maintain reliability. was thinking of the 392 stroker from cambells with the 11.1 pistons if I went this route what cam would you pick intake etc... kinda a budget build short of thing . thanks

A stroker isn't exactly a budget build lol. There are some good vendors who deal pretty much exclusively with these engines, they can give you a good recommendation (lotsa different cams). Intake manifold (unless you mean air intake/CAI?) you're pretty much stuck with your stocker. Get some headers, matching Y pipe and good exhaust back. Tuning is paramount.

lol yeah I know a stroker isn't a budget build, but i was getting at is nothing absolutely crazy like going huge cubic with it if that makes sense. trying to get around 500h.p. and a nice little lope :flamingdevil: I planned on doing cutouts on it with the exhaust coming out through the box in front of the passenger rear tire. still have true duels still running the full length. which vendor do you think would help me out on the build and have a good product?

For what it's worth, I heard the Hemis run better with a Y pipe. Maybe not the factory one, but I heard that true duals can drop performance a little. May or may not be true, just relaying some "hear say".

11-1 on pump gas? Race truck? Not a daily driver.
Y pipe is for two into one. (yes you can Y it back to two) It's the scavenging effect you want. Any type of cross over. H, X pipe is best.

If I had to guess I'd say 310 whp, never dyno'd prob never will. The parasitic loss in these trucks are terrible.

a 392 or bigger can take much bigger cams. On my 392 build, I went with a custom ground 232/238 cam.... I do have a brand new 230/240 cam (i'll have to check cam card to be sure) that I was going to put in before I went with a more custom grind. This is the cam that Inertia uses with all it's 392 stroker builds. I plan on selling it.

Really, thats discouraging. Dropping big money on my motor on hoping to put down those kind of numbers. Read a few articles saying the 410 can make that kind of hp. I will be getting a motir dyno an chassie dyno after build. Have alot riding on it.

the last dyno I did with the 5.7, it put down 370hp/390 tq to the wheels...since that dyno I have modded and fined tuned it more and I wouldn't doubt it put out 400+ with the times I was putting down...

There is an endless list of supporting mods you will need before you can expect to turn up the motor for respectable output. To name a few, fuel system, gears, torque converter, headers/exhaust, intake (CAI), transmission and then you can start making horsepower....

hopefully that works out for you... I tend not to ask lots of questions, I let experts do their thing and let them tell me info along the way...
