Just joined up so I could pick some brains. I did a cam and lifters on a 2014 5.7. Did my best to purchase quality parts but think I got counterfeit lifters from Ebay. Quick rundown of events. Got the truck with cylinder 3 misfire, only felt it in gear, at idle it was smooth and quiet. Tore apart and cylinder 3 intake lobe and lifter wiped out. Checked solenoid screen and clean, so decided to do cam and lifters. Bought Melling OEM grind cam, and supposed OEM lifters. Reassembled engine and all seemed good a bit noisy from top end, but hoped it just needed a little time. After reaching EOT in park, misfire 3 returned, but only now in park, in gear goes away, put in park and raise a idle a bit, goes away. This is opposite of original misfire fault. Compression is perfect. Valvetrain noisy. I certainly believe that the lifters are fake. I bought 1 set of OEM lifters from Rock Auto just to compare with the ones from Ebay and what I see is the ones from Rock have a laser etched number on the collar and no oil hole in the collar area like the Ebay and the roller pin looks like a different metal as the color is different. I would like to hear from other members on what OEM lifters should be like compared to fakes. Did the OEMS come in different styles or variations. What have your OEM lifters looked like? The top set in photo is Ebay and the bottom set is from Rock. Thanks

Never buy anything that's a b!atch to change from either Epay or Amazon. Trying to save a buck, bites when you have to do the job over again and spend the money to buy the good parts.
