Hey

So "was" planning on changing out my 8 speed transmission today and but my front driveshaft is basically rusted solid to the transfer case splines. I tried a hammer and lots of "Knocker Loose" penetrant but she won't budge. The other side came off easily but the other side is not going well.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is there any chance of damaging seal in tcase by using too much heat?

Make sure you have a small 5lb ABC fire extinguisher close just in case if you're going to heat it with a map gas torch from Lowe's or something. The seal will need to be changed out anyway. I have used a short handled 12lb sledge hammer when all else failed but you're going to have to muscle it out in a tight spot like that on your back or side. Make sure you wear impact gloves just in case you miss.
