I am realllllllly considering just picking up a couple of Polk db1040 10's. I would prefer to have the MM1040 10's, but the way the box is designed, I do not think they will fit. Just looking at it, I think the basket on the sub is going to catch the slant inside the box. Seeing as how I just dropped 180$ for the box, I would prefer not to trash it and build one. Shallow mounts aren't exactly a necessity, but something that will clear the slant that's at the back side of the box where it contours to the slope of the storage area. I had a shallow pioneer 12 with the ib flat design in my '13 Scion FRS, and I was blown away with how good it sounded. I let it go with the car, so I wanted to pick up the 10 inch version of those, but the basket catches the slant, so that's why I picked up the Fosgate p3 shallow 10's. I know I am asking a lot in regards to ideas lol, but I appreciate all of the help! I am fairly competent when it comes to car audio, and have always had good luck with my systems until these shallow p3's (Please stay away, they are awful). It has been pretty frustrating setting up a system in the Ram. I have had Rockford T1's, Boston G3's, Pioneer ib shallow 12, Infinity Reference, and JL Audio 10w6. I would personally like something as close to the Boston G3's as possible. Those things sounded amazing.

Anyone heard any db1040 10's? Will they be comparable or better than the JL audio 10w1v2? I have never heard either, but 100$ per sub for the JL's seemed like a good deal. I really don't have that small of a budget. I would honestly like it as cheap as possible, but who wouldn't right? I'm mainly just trying to keep the wife from smothering me in my sleep. She gets cranky when I break out the debit card.

I am a big fan of JL's higher end subs but I have honestly the worst luck with W3s and below holding up in propor conditions. They sound great and sound good but I haven't gotten more than 6 months out of the lower lines(I like to over power). If you go with the W1s do not over power them or clip them as they will not last long. I've been fortunate to find stupid deals on everything but a W7 and my W6 is the only one that stood up to all day beating and never skipped a beat. Oh last thing I can get those VD's down to what the shop wants for the JL's if they ever come back into stock.

Just installed a single Image Dynamics IDQ10dvc4 with 500 watts. Sealed box.
Sounds really nice. If you can fit them, a pair would sound really good. I have no idea if they'd fit tho

Well, I finally pulled the trigger. I bought a pair of Image Dynamics ID10 Dual 2-Ohm v3. Amazon had them for $139 with Prime Shipping. It was $10 more to upgrade to 1-day shipping, so I will have them tomorrow. Hopefully they fit in the box, otherwise I will be hitting up the forums on tips to fiberglass one lol. I have done tons of fabrication work using Bondo and ABS plastic, but never glass. Hopefully I don't make a mess of things. I already have an idea of how I would build it, I just don't have the tools necessary. We use my wife's amazon account since she gets free prime for med-school and within 30s of placing the order, she texted me "Those are some expensive speakers." The woman doesn't understand lol. She should have been around when I dropped $2k on my Boston Acoustics system in college.

Okay, so these ID10's sound incredible. They put those Rockford P3 10's to shame. I think they were a good buy. Unfortunately, none of the screw holes lined up. So now I have air leaks in the box. It is just a cheapo prefab box that I picked up off of eBay. A shop here in Little Rock sells some proboxes for like $180, so I may go pick one up. I have always built boxes, but I really don't feel like tackling it in this truck. We just bought a new house and got moved in, so I don't have access to stuff I need to build one.

make a gasket for your sub hell cardboard can work for that and you won't have any big issues.

Well that was my first thoughts, but the ID is bit smaller, so the holes are outside of the speaker ring. By about 1/8inch. The ID barely fit the cutout hole as it is. I was just going to slap another piece of mdf on top of it with a new cutout hole, carpet it, and seal it up, but then I would need to raise my seat. I don't think I want to try caulking or trying to fill those tiny holes with silicone, so just say eff it and buy one. Not really losing much by chunking this prefab box. It's already starting to come apart on the inside anyways.

Well in that case fiberglass for more optimal airspace lol, but the probox will work too.

Oh, I would love to fiberglass one. I don't even own a saw at the moment. I moved from an apartment into a big house, so with all of the other crap I had to buy, I haven't gotten around to buying power tools and other stuff. Back in high school and college, I would just walk out to my dad's shop and use all of his fancy tools, but now they are so far away I don't have that luxury lol.

I know the feeling I moved 140 miles away from my parents and miss being able to use nice tools like that, but it has given me the chance to call it xmas once a month with new tools :D.
