I was planning on getting a fox box and putting in some alpine type R's.
My question is do I absolutely need to hook them up to an amplifier or can I wait on the amp?

Can't run subs on the factory amp, the output isn't enough for you to notice anything special. You would need to run another amp to the battery for you to get what you're looking for

haha ok thanks guys, I have another question tho..its probably gonna sound stupid.
Right now I have a 4 channel amp for the doors, I was thinking of keeping the front 6x9's connected to the amp and instead of having the back doors connected running it to the subs?

It probably wouldn't have enough power for the subs..... Best bet is to get a 2 channel or a mono amp.

Droid Incredible 2 on the move!!!!

Will it kill my battery cuz I'm gonna have two amplifiers on at the same time?

No not at all. Just don't run it for very long without the truck running and you'll be fine.

A mono amp would be perfect for the subs.

What are the specs of the amp. You may be able to bridge 2 channels and run the subs, but without knowing the specs for the amp and subs I cannot say.

You should be ok, depending on the amps you are running. Make sure you have good grounds as well, it will help.

pretty sure you need an amp but...mine has a preamp powering the subs in the box not an amp
