hello all, first time posting here but have came here for a long while for knowledge and how to when my ram has the blues.
I should start by saying i got the truck in 2009 with 190000 km on her, parked in 2011 with 220000km. just this spring i took it apart and threw all sorts of new parts at it. so i tested the 4x4 out after getting back on the road and worked like a dream (on a dirt road ).. until i went to dis-engage and take off.. im not sure but i think my front axle is still locked? the front drive shaft only spins back and forth about an inch then nothing while front tires are on the ground. while one tire jacked up i spin tire freely and drive shaft turns (same for both sides) ... (front drive shaft u-joints SEEM to be fine).. while driving slow there is a slight squeak and once 50/kph is reached there's a rattling chirping noise.. once and a while going 100kph the noise suddenly stops then never returns until i slow completely then accelerate to 50kph again .. no rolling resistance when coming to a stop and bumps don't seem to trigger it. (what really get me is sometimes it wont make the dam noise) the wheel bearings, ball joints and tie rods are new, brakes are new. i inspected the bearings and u-joints to best of my knowledge and there's no play in them. i have read that i should take the cover for the vacuum disconnect on the front diff but have yet to give that a go.
