Switch gears?

Hey group, so I’ve just found that my gears are 3.73 and I was wondering which way to go 3.92 or 4.10? My trailer wet is around 8k and 29ft long. I have no problems pulling it but I’ve noticed on long grades it down/up shifts quite a bit even with tow haul mode on and the MDS off. Is it worth it to upgrade gears? I can save the $$ as I only haul during the camping season. 8-10 times. Thanks for any advice, btw it’s the 6.4L with only magnaflow exhaust and AFE filter. No mods yet.

There are no 3.92s, and 4.10s aren’t worth the cost. If you have stock wheels and tires 4.56s are the minimum worth it. If your are bigger or plan to go bigger then go directly to 4.88s. It’s about $2K per axle. Are you 4x2 or 4x4?

Since you have the 6 speed trans, I wouldn't go less than 4.56

In my PW with 4.10's, I have no issues with a slightly longer but similar weight camper going up and down hills. I honestly don't know why they offer the gasser with 3.73's...it's not a pulling gear for an HD truck.

4:88’s with 34’s. Pulling 12,000lbs 7mpg at 65mph.your trailer is only 8k. You don’t need gears at all. If you have money burning a hole go 4:56 with stock tires 4:88 with 35’s.

I paid $2300 for Yukon gears lifetime warranty on ring and pinion 892C4610-812C-4828-8DD4-79259C185FED.jpeg
