There is no availability date for the reformulated Red Line. They could as well cancel it. They won't say anything, I asked. Considering that a juggernaut owns Red Line, it's pretty bizarre.1700 ppm of trinuclear moly??? Wow! That could be a great hemi tick oil if the reformulated redline is not as effective
First camping trip of the year! Coolant temps around 212 and oil temps at 221 hauling the camper and a truck box full of white pine firewood in 46 degree temps. Blew one of the 63 year old goodyear bias plys on the camper about 2 miles from the lake/campsite way out in the bush. Changed the tire and headed home quick for some supplies i forgot (i live 25 miles away) and smacked a deer which deleted all the grill shutters on my driver side. Just got home hauled the same camper except this time i had a full load of hard and soft maple firewood and the temp was between 77 and 80. Oil temp hit 224 briefly but hovered around 221 for most of the trip. Coolant was 208 the whole way amd transmission stayed around 181. Thats the end of my unplanned half grill shutter delete experiment.
Man, never thought of that. Glad I have a good supply and I *think* I've found a substitute.....There is no availability date for the reformulated Red Line. They could as well cancel it. They won't say anything, I asked. Considering that a juggernaut owns Red Line, it's pretty bizarre.
Is the cams oil your running the “substitute” ?Man, never thought of that. Glad I have a good supply and I *think* I've found a substitute.....
Where do they get the moly? If it’s Russia or China, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for this new formula.1700 ppm of trinuclear moly??? Wow! That could be a great hemi tick oil if the reformulated redline is not as effective
If you mean Amsoil, yeah SS 0w40 currently...Is the cams oil your running the “substitute” ?
No, that's not the issue. The current product line will be manufactured indefinitely. The future product line is in question. I think they are switching additive suppliers from Lubrizol to Oronite, which makes sense considering who owns Red Line. This information is unconfirmed and just an assumption on my part.Where do they get the moly? If it’s Russia or China, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for this new formula.
You can get HPL SuperCar 0W-40 - PAO+ESTER+AN and 750ppm Trimer Moly for the same money as AMSOIL. And it's a Euro Spec street oil with a TBN of ~12 IIRC. It's what you would run in a Ferrari, SRT, Hellcat, etc.If you mean Amsoil, yeah SS 0w40 currently...
1959 shasta! Still rollin on one original tire! Life is finer in the ole fifty ninerThat looks like a midwest deer hunt camper if I ever saw one!
