Tailgate Assist

Has anyone had the issue with the Dee Zee tailgate assist where the shock bends slightly and it stops and you have to pull it down a bit to open the tailgate? It just started happening this weekend after using my truck to move traffic cones. When I got home and opened the tailgate to put my tonneau cover back on I noticed the issue.

I haven't, but the shock may be toast. Not sure the life of warranty on it, but at least it's not an expensive shock.

Not me no issues yet that was the first Mod to the Ram been over a year now Ram should incorporate as standard on all trucks

Out of curiousity is it the correct side up. Members have had problems when they were upside down. This is correct.

YES, that is correct. To verify, just go to Zee Dee web site and watch video if U have ne questions, IMHO

No issues with mine. I'd open and close the tailgate slowly and check if the cable interferes with the shock. You may have to make an adjustment.

No issues with mine. DeeZee customer support is suppose to be excellent.

It is installed correctly. I have had it installed for close to a year now with no other issues.

Nice and simple install, makes it simpler to lower the tail when loading into the bed.
Install you should be able to read the name properly. They also have helpful install videos on youtube.

A thought though - wonder if you somehow bent the piston rod?

No issues yet. That was the first mod I actually did. Been on since April of 2016
