Just recently, I moved some of my daughter's stuff out to her new place. I had no issues with the tailgate then. It closed fine and I haven't put it down since. Today, I had to drop the tailgate to put something in the bed and when closing, that's when the issue started.
When closing the tailgate, I got about half way up before there was some resistance. I was able to keep going but the resistance was making it harder to close. I was able to close it with some force but noticed when the resistance started about half way when closing the tailgate, it started lifting up and by time it was closed, the passenger side of the tailgate was about a 1/4" lifted also lifting up on my tonneau cover.
EDIT: I was able to resolve this after having to use some force to remove the passenger side of the tail gate. The bushing looks like it got caught and as the tailgate was opening and closing, it would pinch the bushing. Part of the bushing was sticking out. I was able to melt the part sticking out back sort of in place enough to close the tailgate. Hopefully I won't have to open it again until I have a new one in hand.
