Tailgate hard to open

I work out of my truck full time, over the last 5-6 months the tailgate is becoming much more difficult to open. I think some of the tension in the latch cables may have worn out. Is there a way I can adjust this myself?

I work out of my truck full time, over the last 5-6 months the tailgate is becoming much more difficult to open. I think some of the tension in the latch cables may have worn out. Is there a way I can adjust this myself?

Check the handle itself. I don't know how the handles have changed over time but my 05 developed flex and didn't have enough leverage to open the tailgate. For awhile before it finally failed the only way to get it open was by lifting on the left side of the handle.

There is a back panel to the tailgate very easy to open see what's worn out maybe a bushing
