I am thinking about getting an OPT7 Triple Redline LED bar but I'm not sure if it will mess with my towing package and dash alerts? Being that it is plugged into the trailer harness, I would think it would assume I was towing a trailer? Also, any interference with back up cam?

Get one of these. Then you won’t have any issues or dash lights. I have one on my 2500 and have pulled my camper with it installed and had zero issues

But they do mess with your spare tire access hole. The reason I haven't gotten one.
There is a post on here somewhere where a guy used heavy duty magnets to hold the light bar on. That way if he needed to get to his spare, he could just move it.

I have a different type of light bar that was thin enough to put above the access hole.

So no dash warnings...will it also not show any trailers hooked up while the light is plugged in? I have the upgraded cluster that tracks trailer hours and all that...Opt7 offers a trailer package module but I am not sure if I need that or not.

Nope, it won’t. The way you get the trailer hooked up is from the brake power being activated. Which is a 7 way plug. The light bar uses the 4 way plug.

Curt 56584 works with the 4th Gen LED sport taillights and has a 5th pin so you don’t have to splice the reverse taillights for backup(white).

Just added a male snap to my Tailgate strip wiring and plugged it in.

The strip can be removed easily for any emergency access so that is a poor excuse. Whether it’s screwed on or 3M taped, every truck owner should have something to pry it off with.

I’d be more worried about getting the seized and corroded wing-nut off the spare wheel stud.

Does anyone know if there is a CURT adapter that includes the backup light circuit?

Asking this because considering the bar with the backup lights.

Edit: I think I found it.

Yes, all you would have to do is hook up the white wire from the LED light bar into the 5 plug spot for reverse.

Good info! Thanks guys...I think I will give it a try!

I have the OPT7 triple on my 2018. I had to get the backup camera module....I used the Curt T-harness and tapped into the wire in the middle wire of the 7 pin on the T-harness for the reverse lights.

What was it doing before you got the module?

It was recommended to have it. I just plugged it in line with the 4 pin plug. Didn't try it without it.

You must have separate turn signal. I take it from the bcm under the dash driver side. And the reverse from the light.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Did U splice it in or make some type of a clip to go onto the reverse post from the curt setup???

I did not use the 5 wire type, I used the four wire and just tapped off the center wire of the 7 pin plug.

I you use the the 5 pin, just use a bullet style connector to hook the white wire to the reverse on the five pin plug part.

The best is PUTCO BLADE tailgate light bar and they also have a y-connection harness that plugs from behind the bumper to the towing hitch light connection point. No splicing of wires and plug and play. The light bar is very bright and comes with 3 year warranty cant beat it.

So, I could get this T-Harness https://www.curtmfg.com/part/56584 and just hook the 5th pin to the white wire and NOT have to tap into my truck's tail light wiring? That seems like a better way to install on of these light bars??

That is correct. With the vehicle CANbus monitoring of the taillights, you really don't want to tap into the wiring for them. All of the outputs/wiring for the 7 pin trailer plug are fused relay outputs direct from the battery.
To simplify the install, buy a 5 flat trailer pigtail. Then pre-wire the light bar and you just ha e to plug it in.
Just an FYI: A four flat and five flat trailer plug are interchangeable for those that have light bars without reverse.
