Tailgate Step Ladder

I have a plastic fold up little foot stool, about the same size as the one
RamDiver showed, it folds up flat, a bit heaver then the other one.
In the garage ,I keep a small step ladder handy.

The most used thing is a extension pole with a hook I made to slide stuff back to where I can get hold of it from the ground, I also have been using a rake type of 3 tine cultivator, works the best and its solid.

I am to the point where these low riders look great now.
Son is building one ,but he is at the coast.,
BTW he just won best of show for a truck he just finished over the week end.

Anybody have one? Thinking about it as I'm not getting any younger, and it's getting harder crawling in the bed.

I had a very similar one on my 2007. Bolts were too long and damaged the outer skin of the tailgate when installed.

This one from Amazon works for me. Just don’t try closing it by hand as it can be similar to a rat trap.

No bolt-on ladders for my tailgate. That's my fancy step stool upside down on the cover.

In case you are interested, the factory Mopar bumper step was cheaper than the AMP from Amazon when I got mine, but I ordered it as part of the build.

I appreciate that, yea i had it added into the options of my 2020 ram build but toward the end they email me that it had been recalled due to a safety issue and I had the choice to get the truck then or let it set on their lot until the recalled step issue was rectified, needless to say I wanted the truck in my possession instead of it sitting on a lot in Mexico.
Now I can't stand the thought of spending the $350 that mopar wants for the factory retractable add on step so I've not done it. ‍

They just deducted it from the cost of the trucks final cost back then, but when I had it added into the build it was a pretty cheap option to add at that time and I definitely wouldn't of paid $350 for it. I had contacted ram 6 months after the corrected step was introduced back into the mkt and tried to get a deal on one but the most they would do is issue me a 10% voucher and that was an insult to me because i think it only originally cost about $125 to add the option during the build.

I bought mine from Amazon and love it as it saves me from jumping off the back of 2024 Ram 1500 and had one on my 2018 3500 as well. It makes getting into the bed so much easier.

I installed one for a friend of mine on his Tundra, I'm too cheap to buy one, so i just use a three step ladder. Works great and no extra holes!

The Rams are predrilled for the bumper steps. AMP and Mopar both mount using the existing holes.

Looks very similar to the Amp that I have, better price for sure . I entertained a lot of the steps suggested , was not interested drilling holes in my tailgate , or hauling around a step ladder stool or whatever , the under the bumper step seemed the BEST solution to getting in the bed . I wouldn’t of entertained anything when I was a bit younger , used to just step up on the tire , and get in, or hopped up in a sitting position on the tailgate , and got in , and just jumped of the tailgate , mostly from a sitting or stooping down to jump off . I still can do those things at 78 , but this bumper step is easier on the old body .

I’ve got up in the bed of my son’s Superduty, and that ladder thing is not something that I would add if it’s an option. The cut out bumpers on the Chev are a bit high for a short legged guy . IMO that fold down under the bumper is the best solution, easy to use , and folds up out of the way . There whenever needed .

Sorry , I just can’t see drilling holes in a tailgate for one of those , plus I just see the truck sitting uneven , and that ladder not hitting the ground even , or twisting stepping up on it , your choice hauling a ladder around, I do that before using that one .
