Terrible First time Stelantis buying experience!

At 67 and having surgery due to cancer I needed a reliable new truck for medical appointments. I decided to order a new 2026 Laramie. First Dealer wasted 6 weeks then four hours of deceiving information at the dealership. Other dealers never returned messages. Finally I ordered one which should have taken 10 weeks. 4 months later received a call to pickup. Travelled 6 hours. Received a call to wait due to a Cracked windshield. 4 more weeks later went to pick up. Over 10 damaged areas on a BRAND 2026 NEW LARAMIE INTO THE 2027 MODEL YEAR !!!
NOW THEY ARE THE ONE'S COMPLAINING THEY CANT REPAIR THE DAMAGE BECAUSE THEY ARE LOSING MONEY ON THE SALE !!!

Then you don't want a 2025 or 2026 Ram. Seriously, any new vehicle is a roll of the dice these days but the failure rates on the newest Rams has greatly increased due to electrical issues. Part of it is the transition from PowerNet to Atlantis architecture still having kinks, some is due to physical harness issues, and some is still being guessed at as far as root causes. Bad voltage fluctations? Bad grounds? Who knows, but it's leaving people with repairs taking weeks or months as dealerships can't find the problem and have to "phone home" for help from the OEM to send personnel out to try and figure it out.

If your life depends on your vehicle, I sure AF would not buy a truck from Stellantis or GM right now.

I guess you wanted something special. I'm sure in Mass. there must be lots of dealers with lots and lots of inventory, that you could make a deal, and drive home on the first day. Not sure how bad those blems are, but for me those would be money saving scratches.

I agree, that damage is unacceptable on a new vehicle. I would walk away also, if they failed to fix it.

I am having an issue with a warranty repair on my RAM. My mirrors strike the side glass each time they fold in. The right side has to be repositioned each time I drive the truck.

I put it in the shop. They found that the mirrors had been removed previously. And who ever did it, did not know what they were doing. They bent the mounting plate on the doors.

This dealer can’t replace under warranty because of the damage. Mirrors haven’t been off the truck since I purchased it new in Jan of ‘24. I’m guessing the seller dealer did it.

Now I’m attempting to get them to find the repair in their computer system. Yes I’m still waiting on a reply.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I went through that almost three years ago and had a kidney removed. But have been clean since at least. I have a 2019 Ram Classic Tradesman. Nothing fancy and only have just shy of 41K miles on it now. It has been super reliable. Very basic mind you, but no a lot of extras on it to increase potential for failure.

I have been considering a 2027 or 28 in the next year or two, but I have serious concerns about the new electrical platform. To that point I have been looking at some used 2023/24 Classic Warlocks with mileage similar or less than what I have. At least with those I can get heated seats/steering wheel, plus a straight Hemi (no e-Torque).

Where'd you learn of transition of electrical architecture? Would like to know a little about this without google giving 10,000 random sources. Thx

In person conversations with a service manager I know. He is now working at a Ford dealership, though.

Personally if my life depended on reliability, I'd buy a previous generation Toyota.

Low mileage pre-COVID build without Etorque if it has to be a RAM 1500.

If it has to be new and has to be a half ton, I'd probably go with Ford.

Reliability has went down across the board, though. I expect to be in my 2021 for a long time.
