The EB's don't like their intercoolers collecting water either,,

Ferd reduced the size of the Icooler's on their 3.5 F-150 EB's due to condensation collecting under certain circumstances in humid conditions. Enough water would lead to a stall condition under heavy acceleration,,

The 'fix' for the earlier models was to add a 'small' piece of material in front of the Icooler to partially restrict the airflow/lessen condensation.

I've also read about the 3.0 EcoD's collecting oil in their intercoolers,,, I believe one individual has drilled a small hole in his to 'vent' the oil to the ground,,,

N/A 'Gassers' don't have to have a CC, but I certainly enjoy mine!!!

Looks like a Ford Edge engine bay, probably the 3.5L Eco boost.

Wife has a 3.5 N/A in her 14 Edge. Fortunately, I haven't been under the hood enough to remember 'specifics', but IMHO the pic above seems to be 'a bit tighter' than what I remember the wifes Edge to be,,,,

O.P.!!!!!!! What kind of animal do you have in that pic???

My wife has a 3.0 Milan and it looks similar but don't think that's it.

That picture just made me pull the trigger on one. I definitely saw the benefits when I had one on my Challenger.

Good luck getting Ferd to admit to the EB's sucking water. Guys on the forums know it but no one's saying anything.

I didn't know that about the EcoD's. Is that just a Ram thing or is it happening to the Jeep guys as well?

The way I see it, my CC makes me feel better about using regular unleaded vs mid grade. Every time I dump that thing, I go :roflsquared:

It's not like water in the intercooler is a Ford issue.

Almost every air to air intercooled vehicle will have that issue.

I haven't been reading up lately on the 'original/first year run' F150 3.5 EB's, but the stalling/hesitation, as best I remember, was due to Condensation/water as described above,,, I ~thought~ Ford provided the partial cover as a fix for the affected owners, but then again, if it didn't affect everyone, I guess they could claim nothing was really 'wrong',,,

I discovered the EcoD 'oil in cooler' issue while surfing catch cans. It was a RAM forum, and not a Jeep forum. As I understand it, there's quite a bit more involved with adding a ~can~ (oil separator) to a Diesel due to the lack of a throttle body. :) At the time of my reading, there was no 'mass produced option' available,,, Unclear what the current availability status is,,,

I'm using the same can on my 14 that I used on my 09,,, (BT) They really don't 'wear out', so as long as the N/A gas engines PVC plumbing is accessible, it could in theory be installed on multiple vehicles over time,,, (Try that with the 'more common' mods)

While it technically doesn't hurt (much?) to dump oil/combustion byproducts down your intake, I see no reason to do it anymore than necessary,,,, at least not if something as simple as a C-can will trap/enable you to remove a large portion of that oil.

I've looked at that same can, but my wallet keeps snappin shut every time I reach for it!! LOL!!!

Did they finaly come up with a RAM-Specific mount, or will you have to mod your own mount?

(Looks NICE!!!)

This kit is advertised as Ram specific bracket. Haven't had time to actually take it out to the engine Bay to see if it mounts to the head. First impression is a universal mounting bracket. No worries either way. I'll drill holes in the z bracket from the BT catch can and mount the bracket to this if it doesn't really fit in a particular place. So the first filter medium is like BT's steal wool and that is filtered into the 40 micron synthetic filter. Drawn out into the intake manifold. I'll definitely post pics when I get it in this weekend.
