Hey all! It's my first time using these forums unfortunately it's because there's no other alternative.

I own a Gen 3 Ram SLT, with the 4.7 . Now don't get me wrong, it's not a bad engine like the fudds would have me believe, but I'm at my wits end trying to diagnose some issues. We have just recently had the heads redone. Furthermore, the heater core has never worked on this truck to knowledge since we've owned it, so I can't use it to diagnose. My term overheating is the gauge getting up to the 3/4 mark, it hasn't run past this point or stayed at it for longer than a minute.

1. Runs hot at idle, no white smoke, no perceivable coolant loss, takes about 20 minutes
Initially we though it could be air pockets, we bled the system (Incline, hot, running), got air out, and it then proceeded to take just a tad longer to overheat. We then noticed air coming from motor into the reservoir

2. It stills overheats with no air being bled
Now we're on the idea that potentially there was something that got reconnected incorrectly and it now causing a flow issue

Codes:
0517 (battery temperature sensor circuit too high)
0533 (A/C Refrigerant Pressure, Sensor A Circuit High)

any help is greatly appreciated.

I have rebuilt over 100 4.7 engines these are solid engines once you replace timing chains and the stem seals ive seen them go over 200k. So lets back up I have many questions lol why did you redo the heads was the innitial issue overheating? How many miles on the engine? when you say heads redone where they re surfaced and checked for cracks?. Did you re use the head bolts or go new? What brand gaskets did you use? How exactly did you torque the heads?. Did you replace the themostat and confirm its operating? another common thing is people put them in backwards on the 4.7 make sure its not backwards it sticks INTO the block.
