The 5.7L Hemi is a mixture of many issues. Some Bad but, some good. Seems each production year has its followers and dislike's. I have found that not all ticking noise is the exhaust nor the lifters. ... With a computer diagnostic hand held tool. I have one that I can TOGGLE The FUEL INJECTORS with engine not running, and of course the key in the on position. You can observe the Voltage go up and down with each cycle.
After toggle of each 1 - 8 fuel injector the ticking noise is gone for some time. I latter purchased a fuel injector cleaning machine, ... (there are Shops for a fee will run the 8 fuel injectors through their injector cleaning machine.) ... I found that 4 of the 8 where in very much need of cleaning, but all where in some sort of need.
After following many steps of cleaning I re installed the fuel injectors with new O'-Rings and assembled all the components as needed and fired it up. No Ticking. As a mater of fact No Ticking for over 9500 miles so far.
Again this is just a suggestion that I found, that works.
I also use Full synthetic 5W-30 Oil, here in TX. I also use on occasion Techron or BG 44K in the fuel, My Cousin has done the same in the north, and he use's 0W-30.
Both Hemi's are running fine as of this date of this Post. I wish you the best.
