The tick got louder!!!!!

I just recently did my first oil change at 4000kms. I used Mobile1 synthetic and I swear the Hemi tick has gotten louder!! Has anyone experienced this? What oil have you used that makes the tick go away? I have read Pennzoil Platinum works good to get rid of the tick.

Redline with it's high Moly content erased my tick. Usually M1 is good too though. Is the tick worse at start up even when it is warm.

If it is worse at startup then you have a dry condition in your lifters (probably). Organic molybdenum can coat your metal parts even when the oil isn't there at startup. that is it's function. Also, it is possible some bases like group 4 and 5 oil can help that too.

Its worst is when it is cold at start up ofc. I also notice it when its warm though just not as bad

I had zero tick on m1. Switched to rp and have a pronounced tick on start up.

I had the tick, switched to royal purple and it sorta went away, switched to mobil 1 (free oil change) and the tick got bad enough that I dumped the oil out after 800 miles and filled er up with redline - ive never heard my engine run so smoothly, tick is completely gone.

Yep, my truck doesn't like Mobil 1 either. Tried it one time when I had to get it changed while away from home and only put probably 4000-4500 miles on it, if that much. Tried Royal Purple once, too. Truck seemed to run smoother and tick was quieter, but I went back to my old faithful Amsoil.

My truck has no problems with Mobil1 Synthetic. It has nearly 50k miles on it too. My wife's Jeep (w/Hemi) ticks though. It has nearly 80k miles on it. Ticks louder in the cold, but it ticks all the time. You can hear it real well when parked by a building. Might have to look into this Redline. Is this something the auto parts stores stock generally?

my last truck used to tick with mobil 1. also used to burn just over a quart every 4k miles. the tick went away when i switched to pennzoil platinum and the truck barley burned oil after that. current truck does not tick whatsover using pennzoil conventional. ive never had luck with mobil 1 (on multiple cars), and ill never use it again.

I've never had issues with Mobile1 in many vehicles. But I've never had to run 5w20 either. I might try some of that RedLine in the Jeep and see if it quiets down. We bought it used a couple years ago but I never noticed the tick. I wonder if the dealer put something like RedLine in it so it didn't tick while being test driven. I love the room of that Commander and the power of the Hemi, and the fact it blows through snow like it's not even there. But I have had some issues with it. Now the AC only works on the driver's side while hot air blows out the passenger's side. I feel that won't be cheap. We'll see how it goes if I go to a better oil though on the tick noise.

Check to see if there is some sort of recall for the A/C. My wife had a Caliber that did that, except it was the drivers side that blew hot air. Turned out to be some sort of seal between the dash and the firewall. I know some of the Jeeps share the same characteristics as the caliber, so it may be your issue. They fixed it free of charge and was covered by the recall (may have been a TSB?)
