Pureolator, or dealer filter for me in all my cars.. but this ofcorse is all opinion as every filter will filter, its like asking what air filter is the best.. at 3k it dosnt mater as long as its filtering.. These threads go on for days with no real proof that one is better than the other, its all marketing, and smoke and mirrors. the only difference is flow rate and back flow (I think thats what its called) so if you get something with the same specs as the Mopar filter then its fine, again it dosnt have to do with the filtering ability it has to do with how well it keeps the oil moving and prevents it from flowing back out of the filter the wrong way. even the cheapest filter will still flow fine, so that leaves you with that back flow spec I was talking about.. Fram is bad in this aspect however it all depends on the specs required for the motor. If it dosnt mater then get a crap filter cause honestly thats probably all the factory filter is, why spend the extra money.

Some one chime in with technicals on this but really thats all there is to oil filters, dont kill your self over trying to choose the "right one".

I can only go so big before there is no room to maneuver the filter wrench. :signs6:

You mean you spin 'em on Dry ?

Hell, I just do it by feel. Lube the O-Ring and spin er up. Do final torque with the calibrated grip Yo!

:owned:

I've been using Bosh Filters lately.

*If you really want me to, I can crawl out of bed and go out in the dark, lay on my back in the gravel and look for you right now. Used the same as the '07 1500. Serviced them both myself last week.

But, for you. Anything, big boy. :mwah1:

Naw, I'm talking about breaking them loose. I fill them about halfway with oil before install. Snug then a 1/4 turn, done. Haven't had to change one of my own filters yet, but I bet it's hella easier than what the shops put on. :devilfinger:

Naaaaah, that's okay. :uhoh2:

Nice mental picture, right?

EVERY new vehicle I have ever purchased (a Lot) and I always do the first oil change, while crawling around looking over and getting familiar with the new machine, and I swear... I had to CruSH every single one removing the factory installed assembly filter. Some wouldn't even come off with a wrench... had to pierce it with a phillips screwdriver and twist them buggers off with brute force.

After that, oil the gasket, partially fill if the positioning permitted, and snugged it on by hand. 90% come off by hand, and never yet have I had one leak. Damn Lucky I guess. I can't tell you how much oil I've changed out. Jeeze.

I don't know why the install them dry and crank them down like that on the engine assembly line. Bastigs.

Well, Thanks!

You got my ADHD all fired up and running, so I had to just go down and crawl around in the dark to see for myself, as it was making me crazy not to know it off hand!

It is a Bosch D3410.

Hell. I even had to spin it back off 3/4 turn to see the P/N, just as my luck would have it, the label was on the wrong side to see it. Now, I get to go back out tomorrow and wipe off all the oil that drizzled down the K Member and into my hair as I laid on my back squirming around in sweatpants and a T Shirt in the gravel, and blowing wind with my little LED light trying to see the damn thing. But, now I know! :head3:

Oh, and One more Bonus Tip for everyone following along: Walking in Gravel with Cold Bare Feet SUCKS ASS!!!

Um. Yeah. She's a little pissed at me right now. Can't figure out why I am on the damn computer instead of spending time with her. And what the hell would motivate me to crawl under my truck in the dark.

But, I'm having fun ! :fc5716bd:

I did my first oil change today. I really wish, I had done it sooner. I did it at 5,000km. Thats what they recommend. The oil was blacker then toby's ****. I bet they use the cheapest oil. The filter was on there pretty tight as well, but that's normal. I put a hole right through it taking it off. I used Mobil1 5w20 with that Honda oil filter. What a joke. I've read so much about oil and it's all Chinese to me. Synthetic oil is synthetic oil. I always see Mobil1 on sale. I got 15 liters for $80 bucks. Can't go wrong with that. 2 oil changes for under $100 bucks, I can live with that.
