The seafoam should help with the lifter, if it is a lifter.

Well the more I hear this sound, the more I'm thinking it's rod knock, or a spun bearing, or something along those lines. I was driving along probably about 25mph, and I have it a lot of gas to see what happened. As the rpms rose, the sound was pretty loud! Definitely more of a knock than a tick.

Next time you change your oil, check for any kind of particles (metal) or anything. A way I found out I had thrown a rod in my LS1 was by dropping the pan and trying to wiggle the rod caps checking for play. As for a spun bearing if it starts to sound like a hammer hitting the block, there's a good sign. Also cut that oil filter open. See if you're getting any glitter in there.

I noticed today that when the motor is cold, it doesn't do it.

So I Seafoamed it and it didn't make a difference, as far as the knocking sound goes. I was starting to think spark knock, but that wouldn't happen right when I start it cold would it? I hear the sound for a second when I start it. Every time. At temp, or cold.

So, it definitely only does it under load. For sure. If i'm sitting parked, and rev it it does it if i hold it at above 2000 rpms. If it just quick rev it, it does it every time i let off. If I"m driving, and drop down to 2nd, it does it loud if i give it gas. So what could it be that is ONLY under load?

I don't know what to think anymore. I recorded a short clip from inside the truck.

Should be fixed. But anywau, I realized that it DOESN'T do it under load. If I sit here in park and Rev it, it will do it. If I put it in drive and hold the brake and Rev it, it doesn't do it.

So, I'm not sure what this. Yes I KNOW I shouldn't drive it. I know. But I do, so skip the lectures.

I have a tranny problem now with a late 1-2 shift. This causes my rpms to rise significantly more than usual when driving normally. The engine knock or tickets severely when it does. I just can't believe it hasn't thrown a rod yet, so I'm still wondering what it is. I am going to drop my oil pan this weekend and take a look at things.

Also, is there a gadget for the oil pan? Or is it rtv like everything else? Anything special to know about dropping the oil pan?
