I think to help you best is for me to let you have a look at DOR web page go though what's in there kits. Then have you come back and ask more Q's. Do NOT look at the steering upgrade he is offering right now until he works all its bugs.

DOR link as you are past what the sponsors offer here I hope I can post this like without getting into trouble.

Motor wise there is a sticky thread that explains the plenum gasket. This is why it most likly stalls out.

Dude seriously do what Merc is telling you to. That thing is NOT safe the way its set-up. Those axles Im surprising havent buckled in yet, I tell people to swap to 60's at 35" tires, 40's should never go on stock half ton axles! They are NOT designed for that! Whoever told you it was built right must have been high Im sorry to say. I dont even wanna know what gears are in them... from the looks of things Id be willing to bet they were left stock.

For that set-up I would def go with Dana 60 front, Dana 70/80 rear , Ford cross over steering (Mercs suggestion), Long arms (short arms should be NOWHERE near that set up), extended brake lines, drops to pinion angles will be needed (I dont know how to drop, hopefully Merc can tell us), limiting straps should be on there, a good adjustable track bar, a stronger steering box, rock solid ram steering fix. Go to my build thread and read that, link in my sig. I am planning to lift to 7" and go with 37's, you can get build ideas for what you will need in there. I would also ditch the boggers, Interco tires suck mileage/ on road wise.

Whats the worst that could happen? Well its not a could with that set-up its a when. And that when is when your steering snaps and you lose control of the truck. That is when your axle buckles in and you lose control of the truck. What happens if you lose control while your at a high rate of speed? SMASH right into some innocent soul's vehicle and they get hurt or even worse killed. Dont leave it and end up hurting someone, fix it and do it right. Youve got a great base to work with, just need to set it up properly now.

My 2 pennies.

Edit: Forgot about the plenum yes most definitely do that it should NEVER be left on these if ya want it to last.

To fix the pinion angle it will take a xcase clocking/indexing ring, the front 60 will help as well.

Ahhhh right right clocking ring thats what does it! Looks like you need one for the front , though Im not sure on the rear cant really see from the pics. I would assume at that much lift yes you will need one.

edit: Yeah no prob man thats what were here for! We are all about doing things right and safely! There is no point in an improperly lifted truck that can hurt someone. BTW a tip when your doing all this, if you need to attach to the frame besure to use bolts, dont ever weld to a frame. Frames should never be editted.

edit2: BTW I just noticed your tires are on backwards. I donno if PO left them that way to get better life out of them but from the looks of them they are to far gone to bother trying to save.

pm coming your way Merc.

The xcase indexing ring will only work for the front diff, for the rear pinion angle he will need to cut off the spring perches, rotate the pinion up and then reweld the perches. Not costly just time consuming.

Ahhh is that how its done? I had wondered why I have seen diffs with the pinion sitting higher up. Makes sense, yes sounds very time consuming. Definitely needs to be done though!

edit: forgot a word

Op you have a shop to work in or just out in the snow? I am thinking I would ask you to pull the rear diff cover and get the number off the ring gear to see what it has for gears.

Right now there is a 60% chance we will be taking the summer off from the campground and heading out Johns way, maybe down into PA as well. If we do we can stop by for coffee lol.

Personally, I'd be yanking that lift out of it until I could get 60s and a good steering set up in it. The tie rod on the right side knuckle is just at such an angle as to ***** that sucker quickly. And I don't know what the lift is in the back, but that doesn't look like 14in of lift in the back.

I think you could solve a lot of problems but downgrading your lift dramatically. But that's my two cents.
