Wait till it has cam and lifter issues, then change the chain,no point in doing it now,as the chains in the VVT engines very seldom give troubleHey all, on the 2019 5.7 gas vvt engines what are the owners finding themselves changing the timing chain and parts? I m looking at a 2019 with a 110k on it? Thanks
Can't really put a time or milege number on the cam issues, alot depends on how well it was maintained and how it was drove.Hemi's are not an engine that likes to be drove by Grandma, they prefer to be drove by a 16 year oldIts runs smooth, when do the cam and lifters go? They are not roller?
.Whenever they want.....lolIts runs smooth, when do the cam and lifters go? They are not roller?

I recall we used to upgrade the entire timing set package back in the day to the 6.1 timing set package for the 5.7LX/LC platforms when doing cams, etc.Wait till it has cam and lifter issues, then change the chain,no point in doing it now,as the chains in the VVT engines very seldom give trouble
6.1's don't employ VVT. BlackBird and Smith Innovations do have an upper gear that does away with the VVT phazor for the later VVT engines, that's very similiar to what they used to use on the early 6.1's though. That's if you're running a big enough cam to require a VVT lock outI recall we used to upgrade the entire timing set package back in the day to the 6.1 timing set package for the 5.7LX/LC platforms when doing cams, etc.
Do you know if the 6.1 upgrade is applicable to the HEMI 5.7's in the trucks nowadays?
