Looks like it is time for some new TPMS sensors for the tires. 2019 Ram 5th gen. Any advice on what to get and save over the cost of originals?

Just a couple days ago I had new tires and sensors put on my 2018 Ram 1500. I decided to go with Americas/Discount Tire and paid $63 each for their Alligator sensors, which they warranty for 6 years or 73,000 miles. You can actually buy them yourself for about $26 to $30 each, but for $63 each I think it's worth it to get the warranty, plus they program them for you. I'm also thinking they might have fresher sensors with fresher batteries, because you don't know what you're getting online.

If you bring in your own aftermarket or even Mopar sensors, they may not program them, and they won't guarantee they work. I've also read that some Discount tire shops will charge you $15 or $25 each to install them. They all came on within about 3 miles of leaving the tire shop, and have been functioning perfectly so far.

By the way, in doing some searches I found a lot of people that bought what they thought were legitimate Mopar sensors online, and they turned out to be counterfeit, or old stock.

It appears the 5th gen or DT truck has self learning sensors and do not have to be programed. I guess ealier models had to be programed.
Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I think my truck would self-learn as well if I got legitimate Mopar sensors. However they sell for about $137 each at the dealer, and I was skeptical about the ones I found online that claim to be Mopar. Then on top of that, they may have charged me a fee for each tire to install them, and if they stopped working in a year, it would be up to me to replace them. That's why I decided just to go with their generic ones, but everyone has to make their own decision.

My advice, buy from MA Mopar. Connect with Benny @AllMoparParts.com give him your vin and he will send you the correct sensor at a reasonable price. I just bought 5 for my new wheels on my Jeep JL. Perfect fit

Got mine from Summit Racing (Gawd I love this store), and so far they work perfectly fine.

Well- I bought a set with part numbers that matched the originals from Amazon. Replaced the bad one on my own. Drove about 10 or 12 miles and it started reporting!

I just bought a plain steel wheel for a full sized spare. Had not intended to put a sensor on it. Can I correctly assume the truck will run for spare use distances lacking a sensor? A new feature to me on a not so new truck!

Absolutely, just where ever you put the spare it will show dashes and your tpms light will come on.

Jeep gives you 5 wheels and sensors with the spare, ram with a full sized spare you get a sensor, with a temp spare you do not.
