I find the TPMS sensors to be nothing more than an expensive annoyance. Have the ones taken out of your stock wheels and put in your spare, that way the only time you'll be bothered is if the spare gets low... which might actually save the day sometime!

This does not work.

OP, the sensors from a 2017 won’t work on a 2010. The frequency was changed ~2014.

Yep, I can't find the chart now, but like Jimmy said, you need 2014+ TPM sensors and IIRC, they'll program themselves once you start rolling.

Details? How do the sensors know which tire they are in?
The signal is received at the tire location, when they are spinning. This is why when you rotate your tires, the tpms monitor knows the new location of the tires.

So you put them all 4 in the spare and that's supposedly too far away from the wheel hub for them to transmit?

Correct. Plus they won’t be spinning, either. Your theory would be the same result as if you removed the sensors from the tires and threw them away.

He has a 2010 truck so needs TPMS sensors that operate at 433mHz.

Look up what frequency that 2010 & 2017 TPMS units operate at. I believe, based on what I've read, is that 2009 - 2017 1500's operate at 433 mHz.

All you should need to do is bolt them up and drive for a bit to get the TPMS transceiver & sensors to link up.

I have also found that some replacements dont match the OE ones . Before I bought new tires they matched my digital tire gauge perfectly. Mavis put new sensors in with the new tires now they read a pound less. It dont sound like much but I run these damn 10 ply tires a little on the low side . Now I end up with the warning light on more often than it used to .

I agree, I ordered new OEM sensors and gave them to discount tire when I got my new tires. They checked them before installing and I haven’t had any issues at all.

Ask here and they’ll tell you the P/N you need, then search for the lowest price for OEM. I think mine were about $20ea

Had I known they were going to change them I would of done as I always do supply my own . I normally buy new wheels and tires and sensors and mount them myself and just pay to balance but decided to use the OE 20's. That was my second mistake using twenty's should of done my usual sold them and bought 17s
