I know there are a million of these but it's hard to figure out which answer might apply to my particular setup...I appreciate any assistance...so

I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and I plan on doing a 2" tortion level on the front for now. I am getting these rims from a friend

Which are 17s.

I want to get new rubber for them and I'm wondering if I can get away with a 285/70/r17 tire.. If not, what's the biggest or widest I can go with? Or is an offset an option?

Thanks for your help

285's shoud be fine. I know with those wheels on a 2nd gen they'll rub with the suspension compress while turning but you don't have same set up as we do.

I run a 285/70/17 on my 05 4x4 with little to no torsion crank, so that will be fine to run on yours.

As for the 315's, they should clear height wise with the torsion crank, but you'd prolly have to run a spacer on the stock rims to avoid rub since it's a wider tire.

I want to go as large/wide as I can without a lift...I'm really liking the nitto dune grapplers, but it looks like I have to decide between the 285/70/r17 or the 305/70/r17

Any more input on my choice would be greatly appreciated...and thanks for the input so far...glad to know at least one of them won't be too big
