So finally after 6 months I have some new wheels but at the last moment I changed from 18" back to 20" when the wheel I wanted wasn't available anymore. Now this has thrown off my six months of picking a tire size. So I am asking for some opinions to help.

First, new wheels are going to be 20x9.5 with a 0mm offset. I have the front leveled at 2.1 and unfortunately I still have the 3.21 gears as I haven't been bothered to get a new front axle and honestly the 8 speed makes it feel perfectly fine so far.

275/60/20 - Stock size, but why?
285/60/20 - Little taller, little wider, quite a bit heavier.
295/60/20 - Like the 285 but a bit more of everything.
305/55/20 - About the same height as stock but much wider and heavier.

I am not really interested in stock at all. That leave me weighing options between taller and heavier fighting my gears or similar size and heavier thinner looking tires also fighting gears.

Fuel mileage is irrelevant, company fuel card FTW, and power has been partially made up by mods and tuning. Eventually I will be going to 3.92 gears but at the rate I'm going that could be after this set of tires is used up.

Thoughts?

The 321/8spd combo is fine for all those tires imo.

Aren’t most 295/60s under 34 inches tall? It ends up being barely 1” taller than stock Goodyear’s I thought...

So the internet says but it still adds up to a taller effective gear ratio. With 18's I didn't feel the need to go much taller as I would by default have more sidewall. I know 1" taller isn't much but like I said it all adds up.

That size w/ your wheels/offset would look great.
BUT you have already done your mods, you will feel the difference. Think my stock was 35lbs per tire to 71lbs for me....significant weight increase. 16-17mpg avg now.
I’m leveled and really like the footprint and look of the tire. Stock offset, no flares, tires poke out about 1/2”.

Saw your pics when I was searching 305's earlier, kinda what put them on the map for me. I have the flares but the offset should make up a good amount of that difference. Good news for me is I am working on an updated tune to get more out of the 93 octane that is available pretty much everywhere here.

I say get the 295/60/20 tires. They look so much better with the level. I am biased since I have that size but mine are Toyo open county M/T’s and they list out at 34.1” tall I believe.

Yeah, I'm still liking the 295s but the 305s look good too. My wheels surprisingly arrived today so I have to decide soon. No patience.

The height of the 295/60’s out weighs the width of the 305/55’s in my mind. But don’t decide on just my opinion lol

So what size 18 inch tires were you running? Were rims oem or aftermarket?

That's a fairly good description.

Was still on the stock 20's. I was going for 295/70/18 and that is pretty much the same size as 295/60/20, so I am probably going for the 295's.

So don't go with the Nexen street tires that are on my truck now? Honestly though I have had no issues with them in the 10k I have had them. But I am thinking about going with the Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws, haven't heard too much bad about them.

I had been obsessed with tire sizes, rims, and offsets lately because my transforce Firestones were about worn out. I really like the 35 X 12.5 tires, however, the budget wouldn't let me do a lift, tires and rims at the same time (going to Disney twice in the next 8 months so my discretionary dollars go to the mouse fund). My stock tires are 285/60 /20, and I was really surprised Ram put only an 8" wide rim on my 2500, so tire width was limited.

I opted for 295/60/20 and I put Nitto Ridge Grapplers on, and I couldn't be happier with the way it looks. It totally changed the appearance of my truck. I absolutely love the way the tires and wheels look now. Like someone else stated in this thread, I think 295/60/20 is a great size for these Rams (my opinion though).

Whatever size you go with, I'm certain it will be BAD A$$, though. Best of luck with your decision.

Im running the Falkens and have been very satisfied. I used to run only BFG AT’s on previous vehicles. If I had to replace tires today, I would buy the WildPeaks again w/o hesitation.
Good choice on the tire size. Its going to look great.

Should have them installed later today unless work keeps me from having fun.
