Probably about 6 months away from a new set of tires. The stock 17" wheels seem way too small. I'd like to put 20" rims on it but I don't want to do a lift. What is the biggest tire I can use if I go up to a 20" rim and also what if I stay with a 17" rim?

Thanks

33's on 20's and 35's on 17 would be my guess.

Depending on offset and width you can go to a 33 or some 34's, but that is it without a lift or offset control arms. The 2014 and later 2500's can fit 35's stock but the previous trucks hit the control arms.

I’ll be getting a set of BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 LT275/60R20 w/D load range when I get back to the states in a couple months. They are 33”, same as the stock Good Years. I don't think there are any E load range 33" x 20's, which might be more desirable for a 2500.

The tires that come on the 2500's and 3500's are load range E with 20" rims.

Ahh, ok. I only looked at the 2013's at Tire Rack which showed 265 70 17 as the largest stock size rim/tire those are 32's. I guess they added 18 & 20" wheels with the refreshed '14's.

Stock 20's are 285/60/20's so I'd bet a 286/65/20 or 295/65/20 would clear.

I'm not sure how wide the stock rims are, but you have to be careful running wider tires that are meant for wider rims. It causes an effect called "ballooning". It will cause uneven wear patterns. The wider the tire the more pronounced the effect will be. Like I said I don't know how wide the stock rims are so I can't say if it would potentially be an issue.
