2009 hemi with 76600 on it. i bought it from the dealer back in january, so i assume it should be pretty clean

i did this in my 05 when it reached 100k because it was recommended to me by some co-workers. the truck had rough idle and would stall (no matter the temp out side)(dealership couldnt figure out what was wrong either) i ran it thru the gas, the oil and the vacuum lines. it didn't do a damn thing to fix the problem... maybe it was just my luck with this truck. i also didnt see any of the "smoke" i read that i would see when i open up on the throttle

but, when i researched back then, it said over 65k miles is when it should be ran thru the vehicle.

obviously, the #1 answer will be, if its not broke, dont fix it

so, i guess my question is...... does seafoam even help?

if this is a dumb question, ill gladly take the kick in the ass!

Sea foam has been around for years and years. Most people use it in the fuel although from time to time I have read about people putting it in their oil shortly before they change oil. Most people seem to think it works in the fuel to keep the fuel system clean. I have not used it in this truck, but I have used it in others and it seemed to work pretty well.

If you are wanting a good fuel system cleaner, you need to look into BG products. Specifically BG 44K fuel system cleaner. BG products are among the most well respected automotive cleaners and additives out there. It's around $20/can IIRC.

I did the Seafoam fog on my Jeep Commander at 68k - killed off the mosquitoes that whole summer!

For the price of a can, what could it hurt? For the fuel system, I'm gonna second the BG products. :waytogo:

I fog/run an entire can through the PCV line every now and then,,,

Pop the hose off the Catch Can. Reduce line down to 1/8 dia. Wife runs the throttle,,, Dip line in and out of can until it's gone,,,

Super easy, but as the OP figured out, it doesn't fix 'everything',,, Something else must be amuck with the OP's truck,,,

It helps if you use for what it was designed for and that would be stabilizing gas sitting in your boat over the winter.

If your worried just run the sea foam and maybe swap out the plugs. I was always raised that plugs and wires should be changed every 80000km. That and good clean oil and a clean air filter and you should be good to go.

I use it in my gas/diesel and have for years.
It doesn't "smoke" when put in the gas/diesel and has smoothed rough running carbs on an 80 XS1100, cleaned the carbon out of my 07 Ram 3500 Cummins (had sticky valves). I know this because two pushrods bent shortly after I purchased the truck used. Lucky it was warranty. Dealer told my carbon buildup and wanted big money to clean. Two tanks of fuel with Sea Foam and the engine coughed once and ran smoother.
All my engines (lawn mower, chainsaw, weed whacker, motorcycles, autos, etc) get sea foamed yearly.
Say what you will, I love it.
