What's up boys (and girls) ? How many females are on here anyway? So I just got an email today that said my truck is being shipped and I can pick it up within a couple weeks! Will aftermarket add ons like the ones below void the warranty?

This is only my second brand new vehicle purchase and it's exciting. But, I have read that people should check fluids and all sorts of things (bed alignment, etc.) on here upon pickup of the vehicle. That makes me nervous. You're spending $40k and you have to do that? So , I'm getting ready and looking for suggestions. I didn't like the look at all of the factory sidesteps , especially for $600. I like the chrome round look with the 2 black step pads. I also am thinking of a cover. I got the spray in liner from the factory. I won't use the bed much. Wondering if anyone knows of some good quality covers and sidesteps? Thanks

Not a fan of the nerf bars. Seem to catch all the snow and slush off the front tires, then drop it in your garage/driveway. I also lose ground clearance.

The convenience of the sides steps are nice. I didn't really need them, but others in my family do. I can see how it might save the side of the drivers seat when getting in.

I kind of got around my issues with them by going to the AMP Research Powersteps.
As for the box cover? I just installed the Bakflip VP. I haven't had it long enough as I just installed it yesterday in -20. Goes well with my Rambox and I like the look over the traditional Bakflip's.

I suggest that when you pick up your truck you arrange to do it when the weather is decent so you can get it in some good light and look over it very thoroughly!!! If anything is wrong or just doesn't look right, you can make your "customer due" list right on the spot. Do not be in a hurry! Look at, and turn on every gadget and switch, A/C, heater, lights, power outlets, everything!! Not only will this help you familairize yourself with your new baby but will help you see potential problems. Look under the hood. If it's not very clean and dry, have the dealer make it that way before you leave.

As far as covers go, I like the bakflip. If I had the extra $$$ I would drop it in a heartbeat for one.

As far as bars go, I think bars suck. The stepping surface is limited, they take away ground clearance and they are prone to pitting, fading, scratches etc.
I have had AMP Research powersteps on every truck I have owned. They are sturdy, you can step on the entire thing from front to back, they are durable against rocks etc, and they disappear under the truck for a very clean look. Well worth the $$ in my opinion.

Congrats on the new truck!!!

Electric steps... one more thing to break in my opinion. My N-Fab Nerf bars have treated me well.

True.... but the 5 year 60k warranty tells me they have faith in their product.

If it does, just wire it up and pull the fuse at the battery till it's fixed. So far mine have been it the most extreme conditions you'll ever see. -40 and -50 C temperatures for weeks at a time. If they make it through that... I'm good.

three different trucks, three sets of AMP Steps, Zero issues!

N-Fab is the only bar I would go with if I couldn't have the AMP's. They are a great product.

Something like that would be fine. I don't buy the 10-13% fuel savings though.

All tonneau covers will help a small fraction mpgs. I love my extang trifecta soft tonneau. I am actually thinking about raptor oval steps. Don't buy steps that require rivet bolts they will rip out. The factory steps are rivet bolts and sorry guys those amp power steps use the existing rivet bolts. The raptor steps I saw at my local accessory shop look like good quality steps compared to the others I saw and use the existing holes with bolt brackets.

I have the Bakflip F1 on my 14 and love it. I had it on my 09 and took it off the truck before I gave it in. The great thing about the Bakflip is you still get 100% use of your bed when it is folded up. This is a pic when it was on my 09.
