Topper opinions

So I've been in the market for a topper for my 2017 crew cab and locally used ones are really hard to find.

Finally I was able to track down two, to look at, one black and red.

First I found and actually bought a 2011 black aluminum topper that has manual locks, carpeted roof with screened/sliding side windows for $300.

2nd I was going to go look at a 2014 ARE Z series fiberglass topper with carpeted roof, keyless entry and screw out windows. Current asking price is $950.

I figured to buy the first one, just in case the guy flakes out and sells it before I get there. You know one bird in the hand, vs two in the bush.

My dilemma now is: Is going to be really worth this much more to get the fiberglass topper then the one I currently have?

Basically they both do the same job--I think the reason the fiberglass topppers are so popular is because of the looks. They sure can get pricey though.

I have a ARE I love it no problems and very well made they are a little pricey but if you can find one for a good deal I say do it

I did purchase the ARE one. Now I need to find a place to grab the wiring harness for the lights and keyless entry. Really couldn't get a deal on the price. Especially since the guy did hold it for me but had a whole list of people chomping to get it.

I now have the Christmas truck. Dalmonico red topper on the Black Forest Green truck.

You can probably paint it to match and still have less invested than if you would have bought a new one.
