Tow mirror upgrade

Has anybody changed the stock mirrors on a Express to the lighted flip up tow mirrors?I installed some on my 12 Express yesterday and the lights dont work. The new ones had a extra plug that I pluged in under the wire for the power side of the mirror. The power contol works but the lights dont. Is it a fuse that needs installed or does it need reflashed or will they work at all?

reflash is probably needed.

theres a module in the door the mirror plugs plug into but like Jeremy said I bet the truck needs to be reprogramed for puddle lamps.

Yes I do have them plugged in but they still dont work.I guess I will have to call the ealer on monday

I believe that even with the reflash it won't work if it wasn't incorporated in your evic to begin with...or if you don't even have a evic. That's what somebody on another forum said one time when he swapped from non turn signal mirrors on his 2010 trx to turn signal mirrors

Have to program in order for the lights and turn signals(I think) to possibly work

Well I know with a bit of wiring you can make anything happen, it would be custom of course. Isn't a reflash like $200?

I dont see why you couldn't do a custom wire bit. Just to need the know the pinout of the plug and where to hook it up to. Anything is possible

I don't think you need anything special. All trucks have the option for upgraded options in the TCM/PCM, just needs to be enabled. Flashy flash!

The flash is only a labor cost. I had mine flashed for under $75 once and $90 another time (different dealers). If you plan on adding other things, I would wait and have them do it all at once so you can get a better deal.

My dealer told me today that the lights will not work on my truck. Has anybody done this on an express ?

There's something about it not being in the computer even after reflash. Guy on another forum had a 2010 Trx and had the same issue. Plus you have to have an evic(he did) not sure if you do though

Well wasn't sure cause with a trailer brake controller you get evic on the express so that's why I asked. But even with one, if your truck doesn't have those mirrors from the factory it won't work

If you really want to get down and dirty, I can help you find the wires you need to tap these mirrors into. It would be an easy job.

Wish I would have know about the evic with trailer brake I would hve ordered my truck that way. Thats what it looks like I am going to do is my own wireing.
