I added power folding and memory mirrors last year, and everything worked perfectly, until it didn't. The Drivers mirror stopped tilting in reverse, and stopped responding to memory commands. I scanned the door module and got a code referring to a short or open in the sensor wiring. I replaced the wiring to the mirror, replaced the motor actuator in the mirror, replaced the module, no help. I even tried another mirror assy directly connected to the module. No help. I checked the signal at the module, and had horizontal sensor voltage, but nothing at the vertical sensor wire (at the module). I checked the wiring, point to point from the motor to the module, and it DOESN'T MATCH the wiring diagram, for either tow or non tow mirrors ( I have non-tow mirrors). What am I missing? I checked the spare mirror I have, and it too does not match the wiring diagram.

I'm trusting that the passenger side mirror is successfully performing all functions and that you have compared the sense wire voltages/behaviour, pin for pin, at the module level, between the 2 sides.

Have you carefully explored all of the associated ground connections on the driver's side module and grounds on all of the peripheral wiring?

Have you scoped the B+ into the driver's side module to confirm the amplitude and that it's clean?

Are the faults consistent with the engine on or off?

You're an electronics guy and may have already completed all of the above, but I had to cover the basics.

I haven't yet checked the right mirror assy, that's my next step, if it stops raining. My spare right mirror doesn't work on the left side either. What's getting me, is the disparity between the wiring diagram and my mirror harnesses. And yes, the right mirror works perfectly. I have the door module that ends in 103, if that makes any difference. Edit; also, I checked for the hor. and vert. sensor signals at the module. I have the hor. signal, around .6VDC about centered, but I don't have the vert. signal at the module. 2 different mirror motors, no change, that's why I started looking at the wiring.

Finally. First, the wiring diagram I had was wrong. That is the diagram that is available as a download from this site. Found HERE. I verified that with my right mirror, that works with no issues. Second, it is actually a bad mirror motor assembly. It has the sensors in it. Third, you can't get the motor by itself. So, another mirror bites the dust.

Are the mirrors you added from RAM or aftermarket? I destroyed a mirror early this summer (don’t ask…) and was going to install an aftermarket replacement until my son talked me into just looking for a deal on a genuine RAM part. He’s deep into Jeeps and in that world there have been a lot of issues with the aftermarket mirrors.
Just wondering,

OEM mirror. I got them used from LKQ. Apparently the sensor just failed. I have 2 others, a right and a 'spare' left that the sensors have also left the chat.
