Has anyone towed heavy with this setup? Tomorrow morning I have to go pick up a small excavator that I rented for the day. This will be the first real heavy load that has been towed with this truck "weight will be around 7800 with trailer" which will put me close to the max towing with my 3.21's. My truck setup is in my sig. Should I load my stock tune back on the truck before towing heavy or just leave it be? Thanks in advance.

What is max towing with 3.92s?

How far do you have to go with that 7800lbs?

3.92's 10,160

3.21's 7990

It will be about 50 miles mostly highway with one good size climb.

This is the ratings for crew cab 8sp 4x4

I would not worry about it myself.

Thank you. This is the first gas engine that I have had tuned and was not to sure about towing. I used to drag around twice the weight with a 150hp tune on my Cummins, but that was a whole different beast.

You are probably better tuned now then when it left the factory IMO.

When I tow my enclosed trailer with my SxS (~5000lbs) I always back the tune down to the 89 octane (run 91 gas) just to be safe and also put the stock clutch fan on since the V8 oem fan isn’t enough.

Luckily I have not got around to doing the clutch fan delete. That was next on my list when the weather breaks. This is really a one time unexpected thing having to tow this heavy. I will go ahead and load my 89 tune has I am running 93 octane. Thanks for the advice.

you should be good to go honestly. On other trucks i had similar setups to you and never changed a thing. It handled it just fine. its not like a diesel with race tunes and tow tunes

With the 8 speed, I'd just keep the rpm up by shifting manually. You should be good.
